1 - if it wasnt from the showroom/Auckland delivery did you reply to the email saying you have the car?

2 - afik tidal stores songs on the MCU's drive not the USB disk with no option to move it (for now). Youc an play mp3/flac fom the usb desperately tho but you'll need 2 partitions.

So they admitted to have screwed up a bit - I traded in a vehicle and they never sent me the delivery email, or the trade agreement email so basically my delivery was running ahead what they were doing. All sorted today and finally have app access!

Didn't know that about Tidal - thanks! Still purchased a 1tb SSD for future expansion though because why not!

Yeah it's still better to have the SSD than the included USB flash drive the car comes with. Depending how often you drive, that flash drive will wear out in around 6-9 months and you'd need the SSD anyway.

I assume it's recording while moving as well as stationary? It's reasonably impressive that it hasn't packed a sad!

Yep doing dashcam etc, potentially it'll be screwed in an accident but the MCU keeps the recent video files internally now anyhow.

I was expecting to replace it but it just keeps going lol...

On another note there are only 3 Model 3's on Trademe, all over new price. Crazy for a car thats been for sale 2.5 years and one of NZs best selling.

Am I right in thinking the newest model 3s only have a data port in the glovebox? (Power only USB-Cs in centre console).

Yes, that's what the current user manual says. I have not personally tried to plug anything into the USB-C ports yet though.

I couldn’t find a usb c socket in the glovebox.. update there is a Tesla 128gb thumb drive in the glovebox. there’s two usb sockets in the centre compartment.. there are two usb c sockets in the centre compartment.

Got my car 1 March and my clean car rebate arrived into my bank account today.

The glovebox has a USB-A port at the back on the left. It will have a flash drive plugged into it already. That's where you need to put your SSD.

Bah, and your edit is there by the time I reply. :-D

I tried the USB-C Sockets in the center console and couldn't get them to work for anything apart from charging - a real shame as it means on my car I am limited to the single USB port in the glovebox for accessories such as controllers.

I'm going to message the service rep I've been dealing with to ask about resolving this as frankly I do find this one a little silly especially in my case when I spent over and above getting the Long Range model and skipped out on the rebate for premium interior.

We're apparently not far away from an update that will enable Bluetooth gaming controllers. Once that's in place, you really do only need the glovebox port for data.
