Because there are no restrictions on who can post where. Certainly not one imposed by mods or myself.

Dingbatt:
So do the government need to adjust the limit to account for (gasp) inflation? 8% would mean a limit of $86.4K.
With the most recent $2K price hike and the rebate dropping to $7500 from 1 April, anyone ordering an M3 today is paying $5600+ more than people that ordered last Christmas. And wait 6-9months.
If first home grants are anything to go by, I'd say you might be waiting a loooong time before anyone official admits inflation is that high, and two then is willing to make a further adjustment to the rebate. They probably see it as a rich people problem and therefore are prioritising it accordingly.
Based on Tesla's job listings, it looks like Christchurch will also have a Tesla Store (not just a Service Centre) soon. Makes sense now that they're getting big here to have a second store in the South Island

Going to do a quick plug for Rubbertree. Got a set of the classic car mats, they feel like they'll last a bit longer than the stock mats.

heavenlywild: With such long wait times what happens to the trade-in value if you go over the kms?
I traded in my old car - they send you an email asking the following:
Congratulations on purchasing your new Tesla!
Not too long to wait now. We have added a checklist below to make sure nothing is missed or forgotten about when bringing in your current trade-in vehicle.
If your car doesn’t adhere to anything below, please email us as early as possible before your collection day, nz-tradeins@tesla.com. Failure to do so will lead to additional charges on collection day.
Get ready for your new Tesla. Make sure:
the vehicle has a warrant of fitness (WoF) that is no more than 90 days old when dropping off your old car. Tesla will pay an additional $100 if you need to carry out a new up to date WoF. This will be added to your trade in price. Email nz-tradeins@tesla.com with proof of new WoF to claim this*.
the road user charges (RUC) are up to date (if applicable). Outstanding licence fees are paid.
if you have exceeded more than 3000 kms since submitting your trade in details please let us know nz-tradeines@tesla.com
if your vehicle has suffered any additional damage since pictures were sent, let us know via email
No warning lights are on the dash, if there are let us know. We will not be able to accept a trade in with the engine fault light on.
On collection day make sure:
you have both keys
all factory accessories that came with the car are in the vehicle e.g. parcel shelf, mats, spare wheel, jack are included
you have the car’s manual and service history books
if it is an electric/hybrid vehicle, you include charging cables
if you have a towbar or roof rails, the keys for the locks are included.
*Subject to receiving proof of the WOF, before from the customer making their final payment. Must be done before we receive the vehicle. $100 cannot be paid after the fact. This is subject to the customer making a claim via email and is not the responsibility of Tesla. For further queries email nz-tradeines@tesla.com
I emailed about the WOF (as my car still had a little under a year remaining) and they stated I was totally fine - not sure what they're meaning here.
But they were rather good to deal with.

Did you get a set of mats with your car? Did you go with the base model? Thinking I may do the same.

Obraik: Really? Congrats on talking the wife around 😉
Yes, really.
I had this M3 order in at the beginning of January and also a refundable deposit on the Polestar 2. In the end the M3 beat the P2 on features for the price, and efficiency. I also don’t think the P2 is ‘fully baked’ yet and the support in NZ seems a bit sketchy at the moment. That included not being able to answer what happens with connectivity after the 3 year point, except to say “you could tether it to your phone”.
And then there’s the aftermarket stuff available for the M3 to ‘pimp it out’ if you want to. Or more accurately equip it with stuff that was excluded to achieve a price point. In respect to the stuff available it reminds me of the accessories available for an iPhone vs an Android.
My wife drove my Camry Hybrid exactly once in the six and a bit years we had it so didn’t really care what car I bought. She thinks the Model 3 looks like a frog from the front but knew I was keen on it and that “it would bring me joy”.
Tesla paid me more for my Camry than BMW offered as a trade on the blue 330e. So after the government rebate the Model 3 is in my garage for $38K less than the BMW. That’s enough to get rooftop solar, a battery and a good EVSE wallbox with some left over.
And certainly at the moment if I really didn’t like it I could probably sell for at least what I paid for it. But I do like it, and what would I replace it with?
Edit: And to answer the question in MM’s post above, yes you get floor mats with the base model. And it took 2 days from applying for the rebate until it was in our account.

That saving compared to the BMW is a good enough reason alone.
What things did you find were missing that you had to fix with aftermarket accessories?

The difference is I’m happy to use a car that cost me $64K as a daily driver. If it was $100K I would be scared to take it places.
For the “things”, not necessarily had to fix, but to augment. So far I’ve got;
Inserts to make the internal storage more useful,
Mudflaps,
Tire repair kit and inflator,
Type 2 cable (supplied with the Polestar),
Jacking pucks,
Screen protector,
I still want to get;
A trunk mat,
A frunk mat, and
Glass roof shade.
I would need to consult my AliExpress wishlist to see all the other little trim pieces, but there are a few.
So far I have been using the frunk for rarely accessed items but may splash out on the power frunk if I end up using it more frequently. But I’d like to know why the aftermarket actuators are so noisy when the oem one on the boot is so quiet.
I did get a hud that connected into the car’s OBD port but it was rendered useless by a Tesla software update. It was disappointing because it looked promising and would have eased my biggest reservation with the model 3.
Its a shame Tesla takes a very ‘Apple’ approach to 3rd party add-ons, particularly when they provide so few of their own. If they had certified accessories that wouldn’t be broken by software updates it would be worth paying more.
In the end I look at this being a $45K car with a $25K battery added, so that is what I expect from it.

Oh yeah, a lot of those are things I purchased with mine, although mine came with a frunk mat but on the flipside I had to buy a wireless phone pad.
I haven't heard of others complaining that a recent update had blocked the ODB port from outputting to a HUD. Are you sure it wasn't an issue with the HUD itself?

Yeah, the particular HUD I got has stopped working for others. Still pondering whether to try another because they all seem to use the same feed type from the rear of the centre console. I should have realised something was up when Hansshow went quiet and stopped supporting it.
It’s really in the ‘nice to have’ category as I have got used to the centre speed display. I do wish there was an option to increase the font size on the main display. It’s fine for smart young software engineers with perfect eyesight that can text at light speed with two thumbs, but for those of us born before touchscreens were a thing, larger fonts with larger landing areas for touch would be useful.
If I did Twitter I’d send a tweet to Elon Musk to suggest it (a bit like “Joe Mode”).
