HarmLessSolutions:
Not a great decision as it turns out now.
Throw it on the pile.

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.
I will know when the prices start to bite when the noisey modified cars taper off. But haven’t seen any sign of that. Roads seem just as busy to me although not in a public transport area.
My impression on occasional fossil driven trip during the week.
Within the suburb plenty of traffic, but not the stop-start chokepoints.
While there was motorway traffic, and kind of full if everyone spaced out as they should.
It was flowing, which was not my past experience, not stop start, and less anxious lane changes.
Less traffic even it might not have looked like it?

Most of that bunch spend stupid amounts of money on cars and accessories. A couple dollars extra on gas isn't going to deter them.
That attitude was on full display in the comments from participants in the Whangamata Beach Hop in the report on one of the TV channels a week or so back.
One guy making the comment along the lines of 'If you're worried about the price of petrol you're probably not going to be buying a V8'. Oblivious to the fact that the more we use now the sooner supply restrictions will be required. Entitlement plain and simple.

We don’t (yet) have a shortage of fuel and supplies so far continue as normal but we might have a shortage of storage capacity. If supply continues and demand drops we may well run out of storage.
So there’s currently no reason other than money for the Beach Hop people to listen to the fun police.

It’s an annual event which in the greater scheme of things uses a trivial amount of fuel.
Mindless waste is far more of an issue than a party weekend which brings a ton of money into Whangamatā and brings pleasure to a lot of people.
gzt: $1300 to replace fuel tank after a drill and steal petrol theft:

There are many non-weld adhesive products advertised to repair fuel tanks. I'd be trying one or several of those first. I wonder if it's legal/warrantable in NZ. I don't see why not if it is effective and durable. Either way I can fully understand why an actual mechanic is not going to try one.
Call me paranoid but I've started parking my car in the garage. Last thing I want is someone drilling a hole in my EV! /s

Drill a hole in one of our EVs. I dare you. I'll throw your cremated remains to the eels.

meanwhile Australia have outbidded the rest of the world and bought fuel. so there's plenty of fuel waiting to be bidded on. we just need to pay. i guess that's what our govt is likely doing behind the scenes.
as someone mentioned, there is little point reducing consumption at the moment, because our storage capacity is so low, our consumption need to match on route oil delivery.

Definitely the smart thing to do.
Part of the reshuffle, putting daylight between decision and previous minister.
Hard to make a comment here
Otautahi Christchurch
So I drove my EV into the local Challenge station tonight to top up an LPG bba cylinder.
The signs said "No Fuel - Diesel" The owner says they will be back in stock on Tuesday.
This is a local station in metro Otautahi Christchurch. Not out in the sticks.
The supply chain is impacted - I've not seen this sine the late 70's - when I was a kid.
Otautahi Christchurch
The supply chain is not impacted. Supply is normal. We are experiencing unusual demand from stockpiling eff wits. They’re the same people who stockpiled toilet paper under Covid.
