Journeyman:
^^^ Subaru Forester, says it all
There's something about Subaru's which attract a certain kind of... Richard Cranium. Foresters, Legacies, Imprezas. Sorry to generalise but that's my observation.
In particular, the models involving the letters "WRX" or "Turbo"!

I actually think Subaru drivers are worse than BMW drivers ![]()

Spot two GZ looking types in the front seat as well!
Good one today near Masterton. On the main backroad through Ponatahi there is a very badly designed junction. A long straight with a 90 degree bend at the end which intersects with another straight road (that was probably originally the continuation of the straight road first referred to).
The main road is the road that goes straight then bends. The lines on the road clearly indicate that, as does the Give Way sign at the bend facing traffic on the other straight road.
So I approach the bend today, slowing in readiness to go round it. There is a car driving towards me on the other straight road. It reaches the Give Way sign doing at a guess 80kmh and shoots straight out in front of me, all of 6 feet from the end of my bonnet, as I am turning the bend. Fortunately I had anticipated the idiocy by judging the speed of the car as it approached and was down to only about 20kmh by then, so no problem stopping in time.
The car was being driven by a woman on the phone....
Man, I wish I had a dashcam.

Hey Siri, dial *555

When I was living in the UK (around 2001 and then 2007) the cops weren't interested in your speeding on the motorways unless you were above 90mph, or unless the conditions were bad (weather, traffic).
But if you just cruise along at 85-90 in easy driving conditions they weren't interested.

They need not be interested: they have technology doing it for them! The UK motorways are shifting to become "smart motorways" and many hundreds of miles are now covered with cameras that read your speed every few miles - as well as your number plates.
They instantly know whether you are speeding, whether you have insurance, whether your road tax (rego) is paid (no windscreen discs any more) and whether the car is stolen or wanted in connection with a crime! Tickets are automatically printed and sent.

On Facebook but hope this guy gets charged.

Wow. That person in that silver car must have thought that was the end. In that situation I would have pulled to the left, but the ute did that instead, so it would have likely have been a crash. So it is almost total luck that that didn't end up in a head on smash. I think some of these sorts of things should result in a license lost for life, and jail time. We don't deserve to have people like that on the road putting our lives at risk.
That ute driver should be given some credit for using his indicator to signal that he was heading back to the left side of the road. Something like when being boiled in oil, let him choose whether to be immersed feet first or head first.
I've been passed by a falcon/commy pair racing each other - both of them passing me side-by-side. I was smart enough to pull over a little and reduce speed by tapping my brakes to flash a hazard as soon as i saw them starting the sillyness in my mirrors.
Not sure why the driver with that camera driver didn't pull over or reduce speed.
edit: ah, he explained it:
"That was the second one today, but the first one got half way along beside me then braked and pulled back in witch is what I thought this clown was going to do."
