MadEngineer:

I've been passed by a falcon/commy pair racing each other - both of them passing me side-by-side.  I was smart enough to pull over a little and reduce speed by tapping my brakes to flash a hazard as soon as i saw them starting the sillyness in my mirrors.

Not sure why the driver with that camera driver didn't pull over or reduce speed.

Note the cab bouncing. Its a truck. They can't safely hit the shoulder without more disaster. And already doing 90k

Fred99:

That ute driver should be given some credit for using his indicator to signal that he was heading back to the left side of the road.  Something like when being boiled in oil, let him choose whether to be immersed feet first or head first.

Eh? Credit?!

The ute is quite distinctive, I would have thought the local plod could track it down without too much trouble?

I assume that the orig footage of the ute is clear enough to see who it is and its just the typical local news sites insistence of making everything low bitrate to fit on their archaic servers that makes it look like a potato videoed it.

Another one from Open Road NZ:

"You’ve been stuck behind a slow idiot towing a campervan for 20 minutes, you finally pass it, and then you come up to a stop go.... and this happens. 😡😡😡 What would you do?"

When you get the Go there shouldn't be any opposing traffic or get the stop/go guy to hold him there.

Bung: When you get the Go there shouldn't be any opposing traffic or get the stop/go guy to hold him there.

It's my bet the caravan driver didn't stop, probably didn't even see the Stop/Go guy. Some drivers shouldn't be allowed out on their own.

Edit, Just watched the video and see he did stop. I wonder what happened next. Idiot

*555 - he's just done the equivalent of running a red light and stopping in the junction...

Perplexed by the discussion on the Rimutakas.  I drive them few times a year and they aren't at all challenging IMO.

As one poster said, just drive to the conditions.

Awww but that means using logic. And not making the speed TARGET. Get outta here you crazy person

/village idiot.

Not serious. People don't like my logical/safe driving. But its the common mentality

I wouldn't even call it logic, just judgement.

Personally I do see the speed limit as target - if conditions permit.

Just leave this here. More prime examples of how bad CHC is for yellow runners.

And we wonder why intersections in NZ are high crash rate

And yes, I realise I accelerate off quick at times (proving a point if someone wasn't as observant to notice them intending on doing it)

(oops forgot to mute some of my bad words)

Auckland is also bad (Surprise!)

The one that gets me every day is the afternoon rush hour on Esmonde Road - the cars joining from Barrys Point Road and Fred Thomas Drive just blatantly ignore the red lights.  A couple of red light cameras there and we woudln't need a regional fuel tax
