Tell her good luck in finding the perfect car then!  Or she could be like a lot of drivers out there an just not use indicators...

Maybe that explains why euro drivers never seem to use indicators! They've come from a car where the indicators are on the right, got in a Euro and after putting the windscreen wipers on once or twice just assume they forgot to tick the 'safety and courtesy package' when they bought the car.

Ha good point.  I managed to work it out just fine myself though.  I'm one of the minority who will indicate on deserted roads and even when I am turning out of my own driveway!  It's an automatic reaction now, not something I even think about.  Helped by always indicating (as opposed to driving around unaware that my indicator is on haha).

If you indicate when changing lanes it stops the lane departure warning from chiming.

networkn: What a shame! As someone who has owned two late model high performance BMW's (Latest is a 335D Wagon with Xdrive, adaptive suspension and adaptive steering, I can honestly say coming from Audi's and high performance Japanese cars in the past, it's the nicest car I've ever owned (though the most fun and the one I loved the most was my Audi S4 V8).

Interesting to hear you say that about Audi.  We drive a late model 3 series BMW but I have always liked the look of Audi's.  Never driven one though.  I'd still imagine that the RS6 would be top of my test drive list if I ever win lotto :-)

God, I love the look of the RS6 SO much. Probably my favourite car to look at in the world.

I drove the RS4 when I was considering buying one, didn't really like it much. It was too much for round the streets driving, it just kept wanting to go fast

The Audi's have superior gear-boxes, they are sensational (Maybe the best of any car I'd driven). The grip of the Audi's is fantastic (though with the adaptive BMW stuff I'd say BMW have it slightly), and I haven't driven one with their equivalent of adaptive suspension and adaptive steering.

MikeB4: She has decided that she does not want another car from Europe she hates that they have no idea as to what is the right side to put the indicator stalk controls etc.

Wow what an odd criteria to base excluding a whole continent's selection of cars on.  Surely after a couple of drives she would remember and then it would be a non issue??

She is reminded every day, she currently drives a Skoda and a Nissan Xtrail and it annoys the heck out of her. Yes its a small thing but often its the small things that ruin an experience.

Tell her good luck in finding the perfect car then!  Or she could be like a lot of drivers out there an just not use indicators...

What are these "indicators" you speak of? I've been driving for 20 years+ and I've never used one? Are they new in modern cars? I thought all (other) cars had horns that operated automatically when I changed lanes! Or are indicators the hand gestures the other drivers make when I turn or exit round-about?

The Mustang is off the shopping list. New vehicles under 4 stars should be banned from NZ roads. They should all be 5 stars but 4 should be the minimum allowed.

unfortunately Falcon is no longer available as a new car. Sad to see an iconic name disappear.

Agreed, and with no real replacement, other than the SUV? Mondeo is not a full sized car like the Falcon. Responding to the demand, as seen on most NZ roads, everyone's getting in to taller vehicles...

My wife made a telling statement this morning as she headed to the airport....

"where have all the good cool cars gone"

It is hard to answer her.

You cant help someone who wont help themselves. You already took her to BMW. The last manufacture to somewhat make a decent driver focused car.
