Personally pretty useless while RealMe is still a hard requirement, especially when it appears RealMe is having issues.

Anyone else seeing an SSL certificate error on https://api.realme.govt.nz/ with firefox?

Google:

"What's new

Not Real Me Verified? We've added a new login option that removes the need to be RealMe Verified. Note: You still need a "RealMe Login" account and Drivers Licence. Users who were seeing an error on the Licence screen please logout and log back in again. We have resolved the problem. Woo hoo!"

I know that RealMe are doing a certificate renewal this weekend, and I believe this was brought forward due to an issue with Digicert. I'm guessing the cert issue you're seeing is probably related.

By the way, is your complaint about RealMe being a "hard requirement" based on the previous requirement to have a verified identity? If so, that has been changed so you just need a regular RealMe logon now.

Installed it yesterday - it let me link my car in there as well.

So I can keep tabs on the Rego/WOF/RUC - so kinda useful.

Not worried about the Realme requirement as you have to set that up for passport renewal anyway and I set that up ages ago.

It occurred to me that it would be quite handy if it could send you messages about Toll charges, but given that I seldom drive on Toll roads and spammers love to send bogus messages about that - maybe that would be a bit of a curly area.

I get an NZTA text message not long after using the northern toll road to remind me to top up the account.

As to RealMe - I've never had a problem with it - seems to just work as one would expect?

I had an account, and it appears it no longer exists. Hence I've got an issue with it.

Slightly miffed that, in the "upgrade" from beta to production, all my details have been binned. Have to go through and add all my vehicles again.

I just downloaded the production release and I never lost any of my vehicle details from the Beta?

mine had done that before the upgrade, maybe coincidence with the upgrade

Just downloaded and no issues from me.  Added my vehicles and DL details and it's all loaded perfectly.  Realized my DL will be expiring in a few months, so that's something I didn't know!

Be great to see the future developments, the first step towards digital licences and other transactions like tolls and RUC purchases (in the app) I would guess, particularly given the current governments intention to put all vehicles onto RUC.

So far I like it.

The certificate is issued by DigiCert, which has revoked a bunch of certs in bulk due to issues with verification. Pretty sloppy on RealMe (DIA?) to have not noticed this.

Affected website owners received an email notification.

I use Digicert certificates on Geekzone and home services. I logged in to my account just in case, but none of my certs were affected.

Haven't used the app for a fair while so decided to have a nosey at it today as I know I've got WOF's, RUC and a rego coming for my wallet reasonably soon. My login had expired so I had to login again, only option is still RealMe. Steps were as follows:

  1. Put in RealMe details
  2. Click a Send Code button so I can receive a confirmation code via sms
  3. Enter and confirm the confirmation code
  4. Click a Consent button for my details to be shared with NZTA
  5. Check a box agreeing to the terms of use and abox agreeing to the privacy policy
  6. Enter a 6-digit pin
  7. Confirm the 6-digit pin
  8. Enable or skip enabling a fingerprint login
  9. All done - but I have to hit a Continue button
  10. Add my vehicles

If I lock the app, I can get back in via a fingerprint, which is good. I have no idea how long my session last before it's expired and if I log out (or am forced out by an expired session) I have to repeat steps 1-9. It remembered my vehicles but it's a stupidly cumbersome process to log in.

Rewrote the login and signup code entirely so expired everyone a while back. Adding biometric in the process.

Was mentioned in the changes for update.
