It’s another case of a failed, hype based startup that never had a runway to profitability.

What makes you think electric tractors will never be a profitable product?

I didn't say that in anyway, I said that this was a failed, hype based startup. The two things are not the same.

All good. FWIW heavy machinery like this that can be used continuously for days has real obstacles to being electrified by battery power.

Electrification of everything shouldn't be the current goal IMO, the goal should be electrify now what can be easily electrified now and worry about the harder stuff down the track when the technology is more mature.

Or find an alternative fuel technology that's viable.  Shouldn't we have those Mr Fusion units by now?  ;-)

yesterday Trump said Straits will open, today Iran says Strait is open, but Trump says no it's not.

i think they have both been given their enema and keen to pass their motions but there's only one toilet.

Interesting article from NZ Geographic this morning. The parallels with COVID and level of inaction from our government are particularly sobering.

I tend to agree. That article is not political and is worth reading.

Imo even the fuel price does not reflect the reality of the supply situation. Trump has been very successful in his efforts to talk the price down. The market is essentially betting on Trump, or is at least very wary of his ability to short it. Likewise, our government for the moment. Expanding storage was a sensible move.

From the article. I have heard a number of people say this:

"anything at sea can’t be counted on, he says, as other countries can outbid us and divert the ships."

I have heard no credible evidence at all to support that.

Prices are also moved around by nations releasing strategic reserves into the market.

Apparently, you can get loaned crude oil like you borrow neighbors hedge clippers.

""
The US Department of Energy said on Friday it had loaned 26.03 million barrels of crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to nine oil companies, the third allotment under the Trump administration’s effort to curb fuel prices that have surged since the US-Israeli war on Iran.

Companies that have been awarded SPR loans include BP Products North America, ExxonMobil Oil Corp and Marathon Petroleum, the DOE said in a statement.

US is still blockading Iranian ports but has not blockaded vessels from other ports.
