Anyway it happened in the middle of the downhill.

It's possible it could happen with newish pads on hard braking then quick release and cool down. Not an expert on this, just know not what to do to my brakes :). (I have a sports car though with big brakes and rotors)

It's all a trade off when it comes to brake design.

The manufacturer figured you'd spend almost all your time in stop-start city situations, driving on motorways in the rain, maybe towing a light unbraked trailer.

So they've supplied you with a braking system to suit that likely use.

Softer, grippier brake pads feel good in situations like that. A nice tight braking experience with coolish pads and rotors.

Those same softer brake pads, pressed into more extreme use - like going down a steep mountain road without the help of engine braking, are more likely to smear onto your rotors. That happens right around the time you notice that 'hot brake' smell. If the road had been steeper and longer you might have noticed smoke coming from your wheels and your wife saying "what's that horrible smell? Is something wrong with the car?"

If, however, the manufacturer had supplied you with a braking system suitable for sustained steep mountain driving, heavy trailer towing, your wife would be saying "what's wrong with the brakes in this thing? I can barely get it to stop!" any time you drove it in the city.

Yes the deposited material will clean off. But on an - under warranty - car they're just going to skim your rotors, or pop on new ones. It's not worth their time, and not a manufacturer recommended solution.

At the bottom of the hill it is 70 Km/hr and there is a giveway sign, with not so much visibility to the right.

Have a look on google maps.

Yes, the difference between a car with proper brakes and a car without is immense. I really missed the Brembos when I sold my Evo. It is no end of tempting to get an STi just for the braking ability.... well, and the other fun bits ;)

another tick for jdm brembos.

mind you they also build a lot of unbranded oem brakes, eg. most porsches of the last 30-35 years have had brembo brakes.

some of the worse braked performance cars have been, until recently, bmw m models.

the last m3 (e92) had awful stock brakes.

vw are pretty bad too.

it started it the middle of the downhill was what I meant, didn't stop until the stop sign
