10c day last week, 7c weekend for flybuys.

2c off national today. 9c day tomorrow

I laugh at their very active Social media profile. The answer (brought up here too) is usually along the lines of, "the x off days are factored into their budgeting when buying the wholesale product".

Can someone please explain how they come up with that :) How can one calculate how many people are going to need gas (or utilise a top up) within the 24hr period during the upcoming month. And of that percentage be a flybuys holder and therefore get a discount for them to factor a day of 'loss'. *scratches head* lol

Petrol went down 2c around Dunedin yesterday; large oil must be scared of the pending look into their business (laughs)

my company bp fuelcard uses national pricing rendering pump prices irrelevant.

As an illustration of what is wrong with petrol pricing in NZ, last Sunday it was 5c/l cheaper to buy 91 Unleaded petrol at the G.A.S. station at the National Park intersection of SH4 and SH47, than in the Wellington urban area (203.9 vs 208.9).

Now if there's anywhere in the North Island that would be able to justify a more expensive price, that would be it - they are 40Km from Taumaranui, 50Km from Turangi and 35Km from Ohakune, i.e. pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

If they can sell petrol cheaper than in a major urban area with a port to accept tankers despite the delivery costs, it tells me the consumer in Wellington is being ripped off

alliao: I remember Kathmandu got dinged for having specials on all the time, but upon closer observation apparently it's vaguely worded as well.

I live 5 minutes away from a Kathmandu outlet store (its less than an hour from Wellington too) and I regularly buy $400 items for less than $100. Why anyone would pay full retail at Kathmandu is beyond me and I wonder how they can be pinged for sales when their outlet store sells for that much of a discount.

As for the petrol debate I'm not sure what people expect. You want to buy it, they want to sell it. Buy it from somewhere else.

That's interesting. I hadn't thought of going out to that. May go out there one day.

browsing around on this app I found gaspy, it looks like 2 pockets of area around Avondale, Flatbush have the cheapest fuel prices, for 91 they're currently 167.9 and 169.9 respectively.

For 95 though it's Avondale and Ti Rakau Drive out aroudn Botany Town centre currently at 178.9 and 180.9.

Looking around my area... 91 is 175.9 and 95 is 186.9

So I gather people around my area probably use SmartFuel a lot, and as result retailers just up 10c or so... useless.

I've been using Gaspy for a while now - been near the top of the weekly leader board couple of times - doesn't actually take much effort. It's a great app. I don't do loyalty cards or vouchers - give me the best value and I'll give you my business, on a case by case basis.

About the cheapest I've seen Diesel today is 1.04 at the Mobil on Sandringham Road.

Anyone seen better fairly close?

Sorry must have misread the paknsave mt albert one - it's 97c - looks like some avondale stations have it for 94/95.  Definitely looks like New Lynn is the place to go  though :)  Love this app...  though I have yet to use it in anger. Guess I'll find out how accurate it really is this weekend.

While in Dunedin (and probably the rest of the South Island), Diesel is $1.349 at the moment

*Some places in the South (like Wanaka) will be more expensive)
