PhantomNVD: Perhaps it’s time I mentioned the 100?

When (rather than if) something catastrophic does happen to the earth, it may well simply need a ‘lifeboat’ outside our atmosphere for the species to survive... whether that’s the moon (possibly too close if the event is Solar/inter stellar) or some space station/colony further off.

It's what will happen... the 99% will be left behind to "survive". The 1% will love mars/lifeboat/titan/whatever. No pesky regular people to get in the way.

After all, most people are struggling to pay their bills, who's going to have spare cash for a trip to space? And while you might think you're middle class and comfortable, your property is going to be worth the dirt it's actually made of. Nothing more. Not if the planet is dying and people want to leave. Even your money will be useless, unless you're 1%.

yep. 10 doctors, 10 whatever else, 10 whatever else. While we are here, lets couple up compatible beings to procreate. Leave the rest behind, and you dont have a life, but maybe in 500 years some will
