Not strictly EVs but quite a number of them are tested in this video.

Err,
So the tests totally show that the likely warnings from the car companies that the DRIVER SHOULD ALWAYS BE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ROAD THEY ARE DRIVING ON, are actually true,
Were any of these cars advertising they were fully autonomous....
The tests are far from comprehensive, they only manage to do one test per scenario, but quite interesting nonetheless.
The original report in all in chinese, but I think it's focusing more on ADAS (which all claims they have better system / sensors, optical or lidar) rather than FSD (fully self driving)
No firm conclusion can be had apart from, as you said, driver is ultimately responsible to avoid crashes.
Week old news, but though I would share anyway.
The Zeekr 7x is expected to be lunched in NZ this year.
www.autocar.co.nz/zeekr-7x-electric-suv-set-for-nz-launch/
Zeekr is owned by Geely, who also owns Polestar, Lotus & part owns Smart.
The combination of Price, Spec & being in a popular market segment make this a particularly interesting launch.
450 / 420 kW fast charging, giving 10 - 80% charge times of 13 / 16 min for the standard / big battery options... (I don't think we have chargers above 300 kW in NZ, but still this will charge super fast).
2000 kg tow rating
310 kW motor & 6s 0-100 time in base and long range version.
22 kW ac charging as standard.
Great interior room and lux interior.

Seriously, this video is amazing! It's not just about EVs, it dives into so many other fascinating subjects.

I am definitely keen to see one of these in the flesh. That charging speed is outrageously fast.

I expect this will shake up the NZ EV market if it launches at comparable pricing to Australia (It got 1000 orders in the first week in aust), I think the zeekr 7x will be a big player in the NZ EV market. On top of the Charging speed and range, it has solid interior space + 534 L VDA boot + Frunk + 2000 kG tow rating. Interior looks flash too.

They seem to have gone to town with designing for usability too. Front armrest storage box, Storage boxes under the rear seat etc.
Some design decision's are interesting:
- Such a powerful RWD setup on the two RWD cars. Most EV's have somewhere between 125 and 250 kW in their RWD offering. 320 kW is a bit steep up. Ultimately I think it is a pragmatic solution. Save the weight, complexity & range hit AWD of those that want decent performance, but don't need extra traction.
- Kinda coupled with the above, but the lack of a a non performance AWD. For those that don't want to need to put show chains on when they go to the skifeild etc. But don't want the the rest of the stuff that comes bundled with the Proformance (21" rims, big breaks, Air suspension, 475 kW - with associated insurance costs), electric doors. I think the AUD 9,000 price jump from the LR RWD to Performance is big enough to have a Non performance AWD.
- Omission of Rear privacy glass from the Standard range is odd. I know it is a common enough omission on base cars, but it costs nothing for the manufacture to provide (if anything reduces the size of the parts bin), and the base trim is otherwise well appointed (rear seat power recline etc)
- Electric doors on top spec. Those can't be cheap or lightweight, and I don't think there is any demand for (non sliding) electric doors in cars in western markets.
- Range of colours seems underwhelming (although given there is an upcharge on anything other than black, I suspect there will be a lot of Black Zeekr's)
- I think it could do with a bit more payload than 540 kg
- The middle trim is oddly high spec'd getting stuff like 21 speaker sound, massaging seats etc.
Skoda NZ quietly adding "85" version of the ENYAQ to trademe.
Gets slight range & power bump over the prior 80 version. The coupe version also gets an AWD version, which I think is the first AWD enyaq in NZ.
I have always been fond of the Enyaq for it's nice interior and impressive boot space. (very tall)
Interesting that there is nothing on Skoda's website about this car, rather they are promoting the "Coming soon" facelift version"
I am pretty pleased about this. I suspected Skoda might be doing like ford and waiting and watching the EV market before deciding if they are going to bring the facelift version in.

Now that's interesting. I think that's the first of the cheaper MEB platform vehicles in AWD here. Thinking Skoda, VW etc.
Big announcement from Geely today:
NZ is to get it's first Pure electric AWD ute.
Range is on the low side at 360 km, but rest of the specs are solid. 315 kW Powertrain (0-100 in 4.5s) , 1030 kg payload, V2L, surround camera, Frount & rear ventilated seats etc.
$69,990

They are launching their commercial EV vans also. $74,990 to $89,990:
Zeekr brand is also being launched in NZ.
"The compact Zeekr X will open from $59,990, with the dual-motor AWD version priced at $69,990. At the other end of the range, the luxury Zeekr 009 MPV is set at $149,990 in seven-seat form or $154,990 as a six-seater.
The Zeekr 7X, which shares its underpinnings with the Polestar 4, has also been confirmed but local pricing is yet to be announced"

When KiwiEV reviews the the Zeeker X I want to find out how the steering feels. I am considering one of these to replace the 3 but I am now a terrible snob in regards the stiffness of the wheel. The ZS feels a radio control toy after the 3. I hope to find that the Zeeker X has a similar feel to it.

First video on the RD6 is out.
Not a fan of the Riddara brand name to start with (was ment to be radar but assume it was unavailable), Find the fount end with it illuminated really Naf, along with the wheels. Not really a fan of the running boards either. Charge port between the axle also kind of sucks.
The rest of it I quite like. Big Frunk, Nice interior (I can tolerate the color), 6 kW of V2L, decent passenger and cargo space
Took a look at their international webpage, and done some searching.
63 KWh & 73 kWh (latter sole option to be offered in NZ) batteries are LFP.
86 kWh (Ternary) & 100 kWh batteries are also offered in other market's. and the planform is designed to handle batteries up to 140 kWh, but I don't think that option is offered anywhere.
https://www.riddara.com/

I bet the local agents were stoked when the guy said "I understand there is a second generation coming soon that is even more impressive"
Sticks $70k back under the mattress.
Ah, Yes the Osborne effect...
Frankly the issues with the RD6 (from the launch info only), seems to be the front end styling, wheel selection & poor range. Everything else seem sweet.
I think a simple facelift (new headlights, bumper & bonnet) could sort the front end styling, and the wheels are a simple selection change.
Range is also an easy fix, given they sell this with a 100 kWh battery in other markets (of course, they would not be able to offer both a 100 kWh battery and a 70 kWh price point.
Would be epic if they make the RD6 more like the 7X, with crazy fast charging...
Scott3:
if the nz model doesn't come with the cool glowing arrows on the wheels it's a no go from me, dawg
