Haha.  Nissan Connect is not supported in NZ. An advantage to being at the end of the  supply chains

Considering where my car thinks it's driving on the head unit if Nissan is tracking it they should be quite worried about the number of Nissan leafs driving around in the Pacific Ocean or be selling it as an amphibious vehicle. I don't think my day back had reported being on land in the 4 years I've had the thing.

Our 2022 NZ new Leaf  never had that ,  nor the Ariya.  Maybe an artifact of  an imported  vehicle?

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

Having just completed a 1,200km return trip to Gisborne this weekend to attend a family wedding my observations are that traffic was relatively light for a long weekend, Gisborne has a lower penetration of EVs and perhaps as a result of this their public charging facilities are sadly lacking. Best we could find were a Chargenet 50kW unit in the CBD that didn't seem to be included in their mobile app (but was occupied when we visited it) and a 50kW Openloop unit in the Woolworths carpark (which reverted to 1/2 when a second EV hooked up. No Tesla or Z Energy chargers in the area.

There's also a Plug and Save at the Caltex on Gladstone road which has (according to the website) a 160kW unit. Eftpos compatible with no need for an account either.

That one doesn't have much info on PlugShare but if you drill down to the reviews of the facility they are definitely pretty scathing.

Plenty of new EV tech on show at the 2026 Beijing motor, including new tech batteries with 1,000 - 1,500km range. Limited range in current BEV is the core reason for me not considering an electric vehicle, so pretty much opening the door to me (and many others) to a future EV purchase.

And for those who say Chinese car makers will not be the death of legacy car makers, just have a look at what is on offer ...
