Early days. Wait for the early models to sold and the design  improved.  And then  licensed to be integrated  into other designs

New OTA updates rolling out for Atto 3 (BYD)  - will be interesting to see what they have done and whether they're just cosmetic or ADAS/driving enhancement changes.

I shall await my turn patiently.

Do you get to see the release notes first or do they just install it without your say-so?

This video was released today, but dates before March, this year

Youtube, cut to segment BHP wasn't showing off an electric truck. It was selling a cleaner reputation -- Mining spin

There was scrutiny from Guardian from March: World’s biggest miner BHP backtracks on climate action with key projects put on ice, leaked documents reveal

Summary:
  • Guardian highlighted leaked internal documents indicating that BHP had purchased 62 new diesel haul trucks for Jimblebar,

  • delayed large-scale fleet electrification because the technology was not yet considered ready for commercial deployment, and

  • expected full diesel replacement much later than previously discussed.
Since then, BHP in June said battery-electric trials are continuing, the technology is still in the evaluation phase, and commercial deployment across the Pilbara fleet depends on proving the technology under real operating conditions.

But has BHP announced commercial rollout? No.

As of now, two prototype trucks remain in trial service

BHP, Rio Tinto and Caterpillar says the two battery-electric trucks have accumulated over 100 operating hours and more than 200 test laps.

The program is moving into a phase evaluating dynamic charging while the trucks are in motion

You get to see the release notes, form what I have been shown online.

Haven't seen any sign of it arriving for my vehicle yet.

Got the v2 update for the Seal the day before yesterday. Have not not noticed any difference (despite reading the release notes). Really wanted the autosteer to be updated: often find it drifts out of the lane while the lane departure warning says you're drifting out of the lane! Like, thanks, Sherlock, can you two computers please talk to each other and sort that out?

Spoiled by the Tesla I guess.

Been driving a Toyota BZ4X while in Norway for the last month, and it does the same thing. Screams at me when it drifts outside the lane.

The Toyota is a decent enough car, but I have to agree about being spoilt by the Tesla. Luckily its waiting for me when I get back home to NZ.

Newsroom investigates the state of V2G type tech and regulatory readiness in NZ:

https://newsroom.co.nz/2026/07/17/how-two-way-charging-between-your-garage-and-the-grid-will-slash-power-bills/

Tldr: Really not great, but some very hopeful signs with tech trials in progress and an engaged cabinet minister working on the regulatory issues.

I'd hold the hope about an "engaged cabinet minister" and look at technical developments such as 2 way CCS  via the Battery Emulator project.

It baffles me that there is so much wasted space on the screen now, with the widgets on the bottom in a row and the main part of the screen just a screen saver/wallpaper image.
Seems such a waste of real estate. I like some of the changes but could really do with a version that's somewhere between what was and what is.

Just got an email from Tesla apologising that my premium connectivity isn’t really working properly at the moment and that it is due to NZ cellular providers having shutdown 3G.

I have noticed spotty connectivity for the last few weeks.

Tesla has promised a software update is incoming to fix it. I have two observations. Firstly, how long has the 3G shutdown been signalled? (Years?) And secondly, where is my rebate of my premium connectivity subscription for the month it hasn’t worked properly?

Peanuts. What about all the folks with pre HW4 FSD computers that paid for FSD?
