Ha!, I was lurking in this thread earlier last night so I missed this reply.

I decided to just click the order button, this morning, for a standard Model 3 with white/black interior without reading anything more.

My delivery ETA is sometime between today and 10-May-2023 at this stage.

It appears from some quick browsing that Tesla may honor a price drop, before delivery of my order, if the price reduces in the next couple of weeks?

I guess that I can only hope that this may happen.

Yes, if the price drops before you pay the invoice then they will reduce the price automatically for you.

NZ had its price cuts a few weeks ago ahead of the rest of the world so I wouldn't expect anything during that delivery window.

@datahawk I'm guessing your car configuration was already in existing inventory?

I ordered a red M3 with sport wheels & black interior last Thursday, and I knew there was none showing in existing inventory, and my delivery date is showing as "Apr-May 2023" at this stage.

Does anyone know if there is a voice command to stop the navigation lady prattling on with her incorrect lane change information when driving. I like the nav so I get the chart to see how I am going against predicted but having her talk is annoying since it ducks the music down so I can hear her.

I know its adjustable deep in the menus but I was hoping that something like "stop talking to me" or similar would deal with it on a trip by trip basis. Not found anything yet.

Yes, The Auckland 'New' inventory has been listing my options (Standard White Paint, 18 inch wheels and White/Black interior) for several weeks now.

I have been hovering over the order button for some time now and just decided to buy it today because the delivery window should be reasonably short if all goes to plan.

I have not test driven any Tesla, or even climbed into one, so I'm just going in 'boots and all' to see how it turns out.

I'm curious about the whole online purchase and delivery experience without even seeing what I am paying for up close before I pick it up.

However, I'm quietly confident that I will be more than happy with the new 'toy'.

My list of voice commands includes;

“Mute (Unmute) Voice Guidance”

Haven’t tried it myself, but as the ad said “worth a crack Nigel”.

Well that's one way to do it! I rented one for a week in Feb and had zero EV experience before that. It took longer to adapt back to my current car than it did to get used to the Tesla experience.

One-foot driving is the biggest difference I found, and remembering to gently lift off the accelerator pedal to save being thrown forward by the regen braking 🤣

I'm sure you'll love it!

Congrats too by the way.

That's how those of us from the original launch went in! The first time I had ever driven a Model 3 was when I got my own.

I had watched many YouTube videos at that point, though...

Congrats too by the way.

Thanks for that. Same to you also.

I've now officially been welcomed into the Tesla buyers club and have been granted a true Tesla purchase 'experience' after a phone call from them today that informed me that my delivery date has been pushed back somewhere between the middle to end of May. (Instead of Apr to 10-May).

My M3 is apparently in transit. This info did make me happy because it confirms that it should be a 2023 manufactured vehicle and not old 2022 stock.

I am comforted by my granted delivery delay and now truly feel part of the M3 community 😀

Congrats! Yes all custom orders will not come from existing stock so you are 100% sure to get the 2023 version.

@datahawk, that's interesting as I've not heard anything from a human yet regarding rough delivery date. I'm only going off what the app is showing at the moment.

I wonder if yours is on the same boat as mine? I have no idea how often the shipments are made.

My phone call came from a Wellington number and I think it was mainly to tell me about the delay but the call did go on to ask me if I had installed the app, organized a home charger and found the accessories store 🙂

The Tesla person told me that a car has now been allocated to my order and that the VIN will be issued at some stage and to expect email and app delivery ETA updates in the future.

I assume that my vehicle is on a ship or in transit (out of China) somewhere but I don't have any facts to back that up.

I believe that I had correctly created a custom order from the main Model 3 website page by clicking the main M3 page 'Order Button' and not by choosing any existing inventory vehicles.

However, I received a surprise email yesterday with the subject 'Tesla - Vehicle Assigned' and to go to my account but there were no obvious delivery updates until I found a new 'Final Invoice' link at the bottom of the account page late last night.

This invoice shows me that the assigned vehicle has a Model Year of 2022 with a Compliance and Build date of 03-Nov-2022.

I sent email to Tesla last night asking why a 2022 model has been assigned to my 2023 custom order. I received a reply this morning telling me that they will raise the issue with management next week.

I am guessing that there will be no major differences between a Nov-2022 build and a 2023 dated unit but it just does not feel right to get 'last year's model'.

Am I being pedantic or is this a 'normal' Tesla delivery experience?

There's been no changes made to the vehicles over the last few months and I suspect there won't be until the upcoming "major" refresh (leaked pics are posted a page back) happens in the next few months. The only potential change that is slowly rolling out world wide is the removal of the ultra sonic parking sensors, being replaced by camera only vision. The vision replacement is still a bit rough and not as reliable as the physical sensors - I expect it will get better like when they removed radar for Autopilot but you'll be relying on your mirrors and camera feeds rather than park assist for the time being.

It hasn't been announced for NZ yet, but it's inevitable that the removal will be make its way to NZ new cars in the very near future. A car built before today will definitely have USS but it's not a guarantee that they won't change that for a newly made cars

I sent email again to Tesla this morning (after the long Anzac weekend) chasing up my unacceptable issue where a 2022 built Model 3 had been assigned to my 20-Apr-2023 custom order. I did suggest in my email that I may have to cancel this order if they cannot assure me that a 2023 factory built car would be supplied.

I received a phone call at midday to tell me that they have updated the order and that a 2023 model and new VIN has been assigned.

Then I was asked if I would be able to complete payment and collect the vehicle on Friday.

It's obvious that this vehicle is existing inventory but the new VIN checks out as a 'P' coded 2023 build so I should have a new 2023 M3 to drive home on Friday afternoon (assuming that it passes the usual up close checks for defects at my delivery appointment).

In this particular case, a surprisingly quick Model 3 delivery.

Has anyone received the latest software update 2023.12.1 (mentioned by Obraik(?) earlier in the thread) that includes the text size option and remapping of the left scroll wheel function?

I’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos about it and am looking forward to its arrival.
