Obraik:

There is currently a known issue that Tesla has acknowledged regarding waking the car via the app...

Many thanks for that info. It has been driving me crazy. I guess that I have been searching in the wrong places! - Cheers.

Yep, the not waking thing has been frustrating me the last few days - no warming the car before getting in!

I had hopes an update I got yesterday would provide the solution but no dice. It was 2023.12.9 which is just ‘minor fixes’ - but clearly not this, as logging into the app just now to confirm version # shows the car’s not waking up.

Yeah, not really a firmware issue as far as I'm aware. Rather, it sounds like it's an issue with the carrier again

Although it seems to have got worse since the last update (coincidence maybe). In addition, I can drive more than a km down the road before the car realises it’s not still in the garage and the map catches up. I have certainly noticed the ‘No signal’ symbol on the display more frequently.

Maybe it’s time Tesla NZ gave up on using Aussie SIMs in the cars here and signed up with an NZ provider. Frustrating enough having to put up with Aussie ads when watching YouTube in the car and a placard telling me Netflix Australia is different.

Might put a service request in to try and get to the bottom of it.

Addendum: Just tried the (Android) App. I’m at the other end of the house out of Bluetooth range and the car has been sitting for 6 hours, so I assume in deep sleep. It took less than 5 seconds to connect. So I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Apparently Shanghai plant has shut down to update so it can produce a refreshed Model 3 ...

no idea if that's true or not

That's what the rumours and video footage of the Shanghai plant are alluding to. Plus Musk was visiting the Shanghai factory over the past couple of days too. Seems likely that something is happening.

I'm still waiting on delivery of a Model 3, but could be tempted to hold off if the refreshed "Highland" Model 3 is announced beforehand.

Will be very interesting to see if the 'refeshed' model 3 causes a price increase.

Most car makers use that as an excuse to increase prices. Tesla is an odd case in that they keep seeking ways to improve efficiency and reduce production costs.

I would be surprised if there wasnt a price increase - but wouldn't care to put money on it.

There were reductions in inventory model 3s in the states - but then, they dont source the USA market cars from China - so ????

Just had a look in the Auckland Tesla showroom. Took a Model Y for a drive - very tempting....

Sales person mentioned they had Model 3 inventory on hand and discounted - available before the end of the month - so would still get the full $8600 rebate.

Cheapest starts at $62,937 and includes ORC. With the $8,600 off it - that makes $54,400 and comes with the free portable (3 pin plug) cable.

The cheapest ones in inventory are manufactured in 2022 though....Still - pretty good price....

And, according to an email I just got, with 3 months free supercharging thrown in.

Maybe the official launch of the project highland Model 3 update may be close.

hmmmmm, 2 Model 3s in the garage……….unlikely.

Tesla's pricing on their inventory page seems to miss the $400 non-refundable order fee. Makes that car $63,337 before $8625 rebate. (with the free mobile charge cable & 3 months of free supercharging).

The inventory discounting (stacked with multiple price cuts on the custom order model) means the model 3 is an epic deal. $54,712 after rebate if it gets registered this month. That's cheaper than a top spec Camry hybrid (which you need to wait until 2024 for).

@Scott3 That order fee is treated as part of the deposit though. On your final invoice you'll see "Less Payments Received" with Order Fee listed as $400 being taken away from your total. It isn't added to the total price at all (what is on the site is what you pay, seriously).

It is non-refundable if you cancel your order, but it is counted as a payment towards the final price.

There is a discrepancy, I don't know why (you are right that the order fee is listed as part of the subtotal...). When you click on the $62,937 inventory model 3 the Price jumps to $63,337 (before rebate).

OK that has changed since I bought my Tesla early last year (new mind you). On my final invoice it had the $400 as a credit towards the final amount (this was not an extra fee but was instead non-refundable if you cancelled your order). Annoying, but as you say it is still crazy cheap compared to many of the competitors.

Another significant price drop by Tesla today! The Model 3 is now $64,587 before the rebate, or $57,572 after. Pre-rebate, this is a drop of around $4k I believe.
