It was very very erratic with reading signs when I was going thru all the roadworks on SH5 on the last trip to Hastings.

Always missed the 80 one at the end so autosteer was stuck to 10k over the 30 sign that it last saw.

Yeah the new part of that note is that it sees the LED variable signs where it didn't previously. Your car should have been reading analogue temporary signs (such as at road works) with the camera as part of the initial launch of this feature in 2020.

Can only go by personal experience as far as the road works temporary signs goes. The exact same signs that were ignored last week, are recognised now. Maybe they’ve just sharpened the algorithm a little since 2020? I have enough confidence to change the TACC setting back to the speed limit rather than current speed at time of activation now it recognises the LED signs.

It is encouraging that it can pick the correct speed for the lane you are in. On the Northwestern Motorway, where the motorway splits for the Waterview tunnel, the overhead gantry has signs that are 80|80|100|100|100 and the car picks the correct number. I noticed when I was test driving the BYD Seal, that it was picking up speed signs from all over the place. Not necessarily where you were going.

They quite possibly have sharpened things up a bit. The only issue I have had with road works speed signs is when the crew forget to put up the speed limit sign at the end of the road works (or it's fallen over) and the car will hold that 30km/h speed limit until the road name changes or it sees a new sign to replace it.

I do wish that it could slow down ahead of speed signs rather than as it passes the sign, but I guess there's no easy way to do that given the resolution of the cameras and the size of the text.

What makes you think that? The Model 3 is already sold here.

Right hand market is too small for Tesla to care.

No Model X is an example.

With EV car sales dropping like a stone I'd doubt Tesla cares about ~500 people a year wanting a Plaid.

Are you thinking of the Model S Plaid?

This is about the alleged Model 3 Plaid. They already make the Model 3 chassis in RHD so slapping a Plaid drivetrain onto that shouldn't be a big deal

I hope you are wrong but seeing we don't get the S or the X you can see Tesla NZ is looking to deliver to the mass market not the 5%.

I would put my money on my prediction but hey, just a guess :)

This is the refresh version of the previous gen Model 3 Performance which was sold here (I own one). While they used to sell the S & X here too, this is a bit different since they still continue to sell the Model 3 - this is just an additional SKU to an existing model. The refresh version of the RWD and Long Range variants are already here (NZ was one of the first countries to get it)

We shall see.

Either way I'm not buying one. 😂  Unless I become cash rich.

Yeah I don't see myself upgrading my current performance. 3.3s 0-100 already feels insane, I don't think I need sub 3 seconds!

I took a new (2024) Model 3 RWD for a test drive.

I've written up a test drive report (in the usual thread).

In short, despite looking better and being slightly more efficient, it’s not enough of an upgrade from my current M3RWD. Particularly when what’s been removed is taken into consideration.

The M3LR is probably a bit better, but doesn’t have an LFP battery.

The new update has it seeing signs it should ignore. Going from Grafton to the northern motorway there's a 40 on the offramp beside it that gets scanned. Not even a real sign it's the yellow warning of an upcoming 40 limit.

At least it's on the map as a motorway so it doesn't limit it to 10 ks over

Maybe I just hadn’t noticed it earlier, but 2024.2.6 has added chargers other than Superchargers to the Nav. I haven’t needed to try it but am wondering if it will pre-condition on the way to these ‘other’ fast chargers?
