I bought a cheapie iphone cigarette lighter charger cable years ago and never had a problem with it. Wife and I borrowed her Father's car for a trip around the south island, but at some point on the trip and charger stopped working, as well as the clock and car radio. Figured it just to be a blown fuse, didn't think much of it. Faither in law hasn't got around to fixing it so not sure what the issue is.

We recently bought a new Nissan, wife plugged in iphone charger, didn't work and then she noticed the clock no longer works, it was working fine when we bought it. The radio still works fine this time. I looked under the bonnet last night and found the fuse box, but nothing is labelled anything along the lines of "clock" or "ciggarette lighter". I pulled out a few anyway to see if they were blown but the fuses Nissan use are not transparent like the ones I'm used to seeing.

So is the iphone charger shorting something out? How do I find out which fuse to replace? The car is a 2005 Nissan Wingroad, I tried googling around but didn't get very far.

Not that this helps you but I had a car phone charger once that blew the fuse of every car I plugged it into. Quickly learnt where fuse boxes are located in Mitsubishis, Hyundais and Toytotas.

You'll find some secondary fuse boxes hidden on the right hand side where the accelerator pedal is, by the bonnet release lever.

Thanks, that proves my theory that my car charger is dodgy and needs to be binned.

I had a good look down in the driver's footwell (this is actually where I started as I thought this was the standard place) but nothing at all. I'll hunt around the rest of the car this evening.

We use these at work (and I have one in my Wingroad), no issues :)

Found it, it was in the drivers footwell afterall, had to pull out a little drawer first. The fuse map was printed on the back of the drawer, all in japanese only. Bit of playing in google translate worked out which one meant cig/power.

My cheap iPhone car charger killed the fuse box repeatedly in my car, so I ditched the cheapy and bought a Belkin.
Haven't had an issue since
