I'm posting this here because public sharing of issues often motivates companies into taking action.

I'd like to show some photos of potholes in the car parking building that I and probably 200 people pay $300 per month to park in - Wilson Parking, Ballantrae Pl, Wellington. The potholes are so large you can't drive around them easily, the main one is around 6cm deep or maybe a bit more, and could be damaging suspension.

Wilson has been told about them twice, Tournament parking who used to manage the building were told a few times, the potholes haven't been repaired. Tournament did put some loose fill stone into them a couple of times, but as it's on a corner in both places that lasts about a day before it's pushed out.

This is the pothole on the entrance. It's about a meter wide and around 10cm deep.

Here's a close-up of the pothole

Here's me standing in it, for context.

This is the pothole on the exit of the carpark.

Here's a closeup on the pothole at exit of the carpark.

Maybe you should dig the hole deeper and pour the fill somewhere inconvenient for the parking company...

Contact OSH or the council if on public land. There are minimum standards required for roads and paths and potentially someone could easily trip up on that.

Until it rains, or a truck with large tyres drives over it.
Perhaps contact ACC, as they all about minimising accident risks. Which is cheaper, doing a job properly, are paying for someone to do onto ACC for tripping over the uneven surface. But from my experience contacting gov depts to report something, it is a waste of time.

Sarcasm - I have it. It'll last a week or so, no big trucks going in, just 4x4's. It's a private road.

I've found Wellington City Council really responsive, but they can't fix private roads. Parking building companies have some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. Sure run a business, make reasonable money, but they often have really customer unfriendly policies, and as we can see poor regard for their customers vehicles and the customers in general.

Can we rename this thread to "the pothole thread"?

I have noticed many places around Wellington of late where potholes in public spaces are becoming an increasingly familiar sight. It seems to be limited to private (non council) parking areas. Ie Coastlands Mall in Kapiti. Just last week I could not believe how bad it was. I will take some photos next time.

I parked on top of that for 12 years, from memory that is part of the public road and not part of the car parks or Government Campus, therefore it would be the responsibility of the Council not Wilson to fix it.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I asked the council, they said it was a private road, not public. They also said they'd send it to the council roading guys to see if there was anything they could do about it.

Wilson didn't reply to either of my messages about it either - one email months ago, and one customer feedback form on their website recently.

I just realised where it is exactly it is , in that area right beside the Charles Ferg annex access road so yes it is private

Ballantrae Place has always had lots of pot holes. If the CR reg cars went up there it would have been pristine.

Still no action from Wilson despite and email around a month ago saying "we'll fix it". Still having to drive through it every day.

OSH? How is supposed to police minimum standards for commercial buildings. Woo would be liable if someone broke their ankle in a pot hole, as you have made them aware of the problem?

I don't know. Parking companies are some of the least friendly and responsive companies around, as proven by this. I'm really just posting this to put a little pressure on, and so when people search for wilson parking they find this information.

Too bad if someone gets smacked in the head with some flying gravel out of that thing.

"accidently" trip and fall into the hole and roll around screaming in agony (watch italian football for good technique), make sure someone gets a video of it and then pass it on to Wilson .... see what happens then :-)
