I bought a 2006 Nissian Tiida vehicle.  It contain a HS706-A unit (http://www.nengun.com/nissan/nissan-genuine-hdd-navigation-hs706-a-327640).  All the manuals are in Japanese. Uunfortunately for me it the language is set to Japanese, I which to change it to English and don't know how to do this as I don't read Japanese.   Does any body know to change the language to English?

When people say 'Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too'. Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?

I am sure there is no option to change it to English, Most if not all of these units were built for the Japanese market only

There is a company called xanavi that does conversions for Nissans, was going to get the Stagea converted before I sold it. They have the software/discs to be able to do it. Can't find the contact for New Zealand as it was sometime ago but you can try emailing Chris Rogers from AudioExpress in Aussie and see if he has is still doing it or has a local contact. They can also send you discs too, they can also confirm if they do that model.

The other option is to replace the head unit like I did in my Toyota Blade, looks like factory, has up to date maps and it's hooked up to the steering wheel. Was installed $450.

As stated, you most likely can't change the language, but just in case you feel like poking around in the menus:

言語 is usually used to indicate "language"
日本語 is Japanese
英語 is English

That is really useful information considering all the Japanese cars in this country. Thank you. Multiple plus 1's.

My cousin has a Nissan Tiida is 2005. The dealer was able to set up her iPhone 8 bluetooth to answer calls hands free via the steering wheel control but not able to make calls due to the Japanese language.

I can add these:

設定 means "Settings"
システム設定 = system settings
言語/ユニット = language/unit

Though I suppose if we can find 英語 (English) then I may have some success. The bottom white button at the 7 to 8 position to the the centre dial is meant to be the Settings or Setup or some such.

The only other way would be to find someone who reads Japanese.

But the big question is did the OP find a solution ❓

Google Translate app has the option to take a photo, let you highlight the text you want and translate it from Japanese to English too.

The Google Translate app now has instant translation. Just point the camera at the text and it instantly changes on the screen. No need to highlight what you want translated.

Used it today and worked brilliantly 🎓.

My cousin has a Nissan Tiida is 2005 which got all mucked, last week, up by an Auto Tech trying to unstick a CD in the slot. He mucked all her bluetooth settings up but google translate came to the rescue.

Thanks to you both. 😀
