NZ Herald story

My skepticism about a common superstition have been challenged, this was really tempting fate:

On a more serious note, I avoid taking bananas on boats because they release ethylene gas, which makes other fruit ripen fast - so you end up with rotten fruit in the locker where you stored the bananas - at least these guys had them above deck.

One of them was probably also whistling while smuggling his lady-friend on board below deck.  Idiots.  Lol

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Matt Watson makes habit of always taking bananas.  There is a myth that if you take bananas you won't catch fish.  He catches plenty and even did an episode where he used a strip of banana skin on a hook as a lure to catch fish.

Those bananas look photoshopped to me.

Was going to say the same thing.  Integration is very good if that's the case.

Their placement also looks rather convenient too.

Man, I really didn't think we could top the "Why does NZ still use 12 hour clocks" but boy was I wrong...

Fishermen/boaties are superstitious, right up there with professional sportspeople and gamblers.
