Just installed one of these in my car (disclosure: I work for The Warehouse and get a staff discount on things like this).
The American HiFi AHF-930 is a budget double din head unit with a touch screen and no disc player.
Prior to purchase I could only Google the basic specs so I thought I'd put this here in case someone else is interested:
- Doesn't use the normal ISO plugs like my previous aftermarket head unit, so wiring job required
- Wires include a bunch of accessories like handbrake, brake, reverse and steering wheel controls
- In my case, the steering wheel control wires allow my Holden Commodore VX to control the unit (a nice surprise).
This is done by training the head unit - simply hold down a steering wheel control and assign it to the relevant function (Mode, Next, Previous, Vol+, Vol-, Mute, Answer Phone, Disconnect Phone)
- It accepts a 64GB Adata microSD card
- It handles 720p MP4 video from the microSD slot (haven't tested USB yet though)
- Using the external microphone (which plugs into the rear), it was long enough to be routed to the top of the driver's side front pillar (but no further) and Bluetooth calling works well. Only noticed afterwards there appears to be a microphone in the front panel so not sure of its capabilities.
Any questions post here
