Hi

I know nothing about bikes.
So I was surprised when a friend said they were quoted $40 for WOF and $135 for tyre excluding shipping

But the final bill is for $400 including tyre shipping and fitting?
Is that reasonable?

That doesnt sound very reasonable to me.places usually dont charge labor on tyre fitting well atleast none that ive ever been to

You would have to look at the bill. I would say something else was also done, like a service.

$40 for a WOF sounds about right, if not a little on the cheap side. Without knowing the make/model/size/type of the tyre it's hard to say, $135 for a bike tyre must be a pretty basic one, so again pretty cheap.

$225 for shipping and fitting...I don't think so unless your friend asked for a specific tyre that had to be specially sourced from overseas, even then sounds inflated.

Your friend should have an itemised invoice, if not he/she should ask for one.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

$135 for a tyre on a 1000cc sports bike is cheap but expensive for a 50cc scooter,

Sounds a bit mucky, Maybe he was quoted + GST and then some other things came into account so then it would work out close to that.

For that size of bike I would expect a new front and back tyre and WOF and maybe some chocolates

The quote was reasonable. There is no way fitting would cost that much. Review the invoice. There may be more to it.

Some tyres of the 180/55 sizing can be $400+ .. Avon do a nice sticky one around that range, and you get 250cc bikes with large rear (Honda Hornet 250 has a 180/55 rear)

All depends on what he bought.

$40 for a WOF is about right.
