Wouldnt it be eaiser to take it to the local dealer and have them flash it with the latest update for NZ?

I think RadarDirect do this.

Yea I did think about it, but I bought it privately on trade me and I’m not sure if they will work on the radar detector because they didn’t sell it to me.

Firstly, there's no NZ mode or "NZ Firmware" it's simply false advertising. You can't flash V1's either.

There's only one version of the V1 and they all come from America, all the local sellers do is disable X and K bands.

Just disable X and K band and you should be fine, there's almost no point running K band as you'll just get every automatic door opener setting it off. Furthermore the only K band used by NZ Police are the camera vans which use the redflex radar that emits a very low signal and angled quite low so you can see the van before you get an alert anyway, same with the new stationary cameras.

You should get barely any false Ka alerts, do you have Ka guard on or off? I have mine off and in Wellington the only two places that false Ka is the courier post depot in Kaiwharawhara and New World Khandallah

I bought my V1 direct from V1 so any questions feel free to ask

I have ka guard off, I havn't tried running ka guard on, I find the false alarms I get on ka band are from other cars that have radar detectors in them

Yeah, it's worse for the Americans as lots of people run the Cobra RD's which leak a lot of Ka.

You can try running with Ka guard on as I believe that may assist with reducing false alerts.

I forgot to mention I run mine in Euro mode, with the little u. In that mode only Ka and Laser are enabled, though I'm tempted to turn laser off as well as I'm sick of Volvo's and Honda Jazz's setting it off -_-

From memory POP is on.

If you're doing long distance driving you can change to U so K band is enabled, that way you may get lucky and detect a van before it sees you. Then when you get into towns you just change to u mode.
