Hi Team

I was wondering if there is a cheaper and same time reliable & sturdy alternative to this product below. Its a Parrot Mki9200

Any ideas, and if there is, do you recommend a installer as well.

My prelim aim - To get good quality Aux without replacing a headunit ( cause 1) its expensive and 2) dont want to lose the second camera on front passenger door mirror )

If you do a search on TM for CX7 AUX you will find some options for sale for a bit over the $100 mark, they will install also if you're not confident doing so. A friend has a similar unit in his Mazda 3 and it works as expected.

yeah i already did that :) , but because this cx7 is a Jap navigation type unit, the Aux gear ( like this one here : http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/mazda/accessories/auction-1042417520.htm ) is not compatible , i have asked around.

so thats why i am looking at alternatives.

I have that very device wired into my Land Rover.

I suspect (assume) whoever did it wasn't very good at their job. There is a ghastly hum over the car stereo speakers when placing a call through the unit (it uses the stereo and switches it to 'phone mode') which makes it just about useless for calls.

There is also an iPhone plug which has no effect at all when you connect to it.

I do not use it now - I have a BT headset which is much better in the car so I just leave the Parrot switched off.

I always thought that cuz it was hard wired, the results would be good. plus it has a 3.5mm jack too so the music quality would be great.

It probably should be. As you say, I do not think whoever did this one (before I bought the vehicle) did it very well.

There is a 3.5mm Aux input as part of the factory equipment but I have tried connecting to that and no sound comes out at all. I assumed that the additional iPhone plug that is attached to a short wire in one of the centre console trays was wired to that Aux input. Again, no sound from that either.

One of these days, I will get a specialist to look at it and get it sorted out as listening only to CD's and the radio can get tedious.

Thats exactly why i need some alternate solutions. cant be writing cd' s forever. Aux is so damn necessary.
