does any one know of package/ system for installing a motion security camera in the car - writing to DVR or the like.

The reason being over 2 years of stalking by a very unhappy individual, who about every 6 months takes to slashing and keying the car... I have and event camera but that is useless moments after the ignition is off -( although recently it was mighty handy in catching the guy we had always suspected stealing property as i happened to turn in to the drive..)

I know we are a small country at the bottom of the world - but this is getting ridiculous..( now i know why people buy from the net!)  i cant seem to find any system that allows one to connect a couple of black and white - day/night camera's to a dvr designed for security not event recording.... the only ones i have seen are clearly commercial and 1000's of bucks?

any clues .. or recommendations for online purchasing?
Cheers ag

It's not so much the cameras/solution, it's how you hook it up to the car.

On most modern vehicles the accessory connector (old ciggy port) is now wired up to ignition sense so works all the time. Depending on your vehicle if you have it wired up to a circuit with ignition sense you simply need to get this changed.

Yep have figured a way around the ignition switch but all i can seem to find on the market here are car event camera's and they are only as good as the windscreen and rear window allow - and frankly for a guy who has smashed the windows a couple of times - bingo - camera history and sd card...

the systems that have been suggested are those with small cameras that can be hidden inside the car (upholstery), in the grill, dashboard etc..that capture a view through the side windows at and angle that is useful for this kind of problem... and that are recording by independent car charged power to a dvr or sd card...

i guess if i was techy inclined i could just make something up... curse i didnt get that gene...
