Ok, shuffle is off

I download a number of podcasts to a usb stick to listen to on the commute to work, however the car stereo (Sony) always plays them in reverse order of broadcast, as in the most recent first

eg

110 Episode 110_ No Such Thing As A.mp3

then

109 Episode 109_ No Such Thing As A.mp3

This isn't a massive pain although i would prefer them to be in file order eg 109, 110, 111 etc

How do i find out exactly what metric my car stereo uses to sort by, as i have found dozens of solutions but no clear answer to how exactly a Sony car stereo decides on the play order.

Yes its a minor irritation, but I just want it to work the way i want it to

I'm almost certain the last Sony I had explained it in the manual.

Maybe it's using creation date? Or ID3 tags?

Well this is a tad embarrassing, My car stereo is a clarion, its the wifes one that is a Sony, although it does seem to have the same issue

Well its worse in the wifes car as we download Podcasts like storynory, which will often have multi episode stories and those playing out of order is a pain, I'll see if I can track down the manuals.

Have you got a tool which lets you edit the MP3 tags?

There could be tag values it sorts on, if not the file creation date, or the date/time that the files were copied onto the USB drive.

Any way from the sony site

Music in USB memory is played back in the order of music transferred

Cheers all
