Got an outback to get checked out.

But this is more of a general question as well as people say VTNZ 150 pt checks dont really always get to the problems, maybe becauce they arent experts on all cars?

Or AA even?

I'm not a fan of VTNZ (ever since they did a WoF on a bike I was buying, and next day the front brakes were metal-on-metal) so I wouldn't use them for anything.

Are there any indy subaru mechanics in your area?

I recently bought a Subaru Legacy 3.0R and took it to VTNZ for a once over. He picked the few things that needed attention that the Subaru specialist did later on during a service so it doesn't really get better than that. Being from out of town I liked the fact I could book it in online too.

Jase2985:

why did you not just ask in your other thread?

we need a TeaLeaf forum

And your post is such a fine piece of contribution?

much the same as yours

given they started another thread asking about the car earlier, it would be a good place to ask where to get it check dont you think?

We used to take our Subaru's - we have 6 of them to a "Subaru Specialist" and even Subaru themselves (Winger), but after both of those places, we found a mechanic who doesn't claim to be a Subaru Specialist who was the best out of all of them. Still uses Subaru Genuine Parts and picks up just as much as the other two did, without charging us the earth.

If this thread bothers you so much, then politely make your suggestion to him without all the sarcasm about there being a need a forum named after the OP. Better yet, given that this is obviously a thread by the OP about a car purchase, should you have no interest in it, be an adult and leave it alone.

I prefer a trusted independent mechanic who is not constrained by a fairly rudimentary tick-the-box inspection.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
