I need someone who can quickly diagnose and fix why the entertainment system fitted in my Discovery does not work.

A previous owner has had fitted TV screens in the rear of the front headrests, wireless headphones, a DVD player in the boot and a Playstation in the boot. None of them work and never have since I owned the car.

The wiring is complex and beyond my meagre abilities in such things.

Does anyone know an ICE/electrician type who can work on a complex vehicle like a Discovery 3 without messing up the multitude of other important electrics in the vehicle? I could pick one from the Yellow Pages, as it were, but a personal recommendation would probably be better!

Streetsoundz is very good at this stuff, though they're not cheap.

Thanks - I will get in touch with them. I don't want cheap more than I want competent!

There are so many electronic systems in the car, plus a fibre optic 'ring main' affair and all sorts, so I do not want someone just monkeying about with a pair of pliers and some electrical tape, if you know what I mean!

So eventually I got round to taking the vehicle in to Streetsoundz.

Very competent people, great to deal with. Fixed the issues for the most part. I had hoped they could fit the factory phone system but apparently the OEM system is only available for slightly later vehicles (despite costing $1200!) so that could not be done. The Parrot that is in there works but is not well suited so I do not use it, preferring the excellent Plantronics BT earpiece I have.

The DVD etc now works but will require a new headphone sender unit so sound at present only via the ICE.

They also did a hard wire for my radar detector, so no more annoying curly wires!

So at least we have a generally working system. There are some refinements to be made in due course but I recommend the people there. As you said, not the cheapest but competent, knowledgeable and careful with my expensive car.
