Just curious, anyone ever leased a car for private reasons (ie, not associated with a business)
I assume there are advantages and disadvantages over purchasing a car (either fulled paid, loan or finance)

Part of the advantage in leasing cars is taxation benefits for a business. You don't get those as a wage/salary earner. The lease prices you see displayed are usually ex-GST, so add that back in if you aren't GST registered.
The advantage is you have certainty around costs. You pay a fixed cost that covers maintenance, insurance, etc etc and every three years you get a new car. From memory you have to pay for fuel, oil and tyres.
Private lease is very common in the US, where cars are cheaper and interest is lower. In NZ both cars and finance cost more and it's built around lower volume so leases aren't as affordable.
It can be cheaper to wait for a car company to offer low finance and utilise that to buy new car. We found this cheaper overall than a private lease or financing near new. The interest rates on Mazda's 2015 field day specials were lower than mortgage rates.

Thanks; I've been looking around and generally decided it's not worth it
Always good to be curious right.
