The Mrs joined as well, what I dont get is she got a message saying she has 40c per litre off which will expire in a week. We werent told about this when joining, we havnt used the card yet.

We usually use Mobile Synergy because Caltex and BP are well over 10c per litre more I find.

Perhaps a one off on new cards to encourage her to use it? I'd go use it before the week is up! Indeed BP\Caltex is usually more that 10c more, but worth doing at 40c off!

Heck yes, I wouldnt have been using Waitomo and Mobil for the last 3 weeks had I known this :-).

I think you are right, it might be just because she is a new member. The email says it will drop 15c in 10 days so I presume it will still be a 25c per litre discount.

I wish when we had joined Id read the fine print, but it wasnt in the info in the mail.

I also didnt realise you get fuel discounts and percentage off using AA travel, having just spent $2500 on travel accommodation haha, well it was the Mrs old man who paid, but we booked through AA travel.

Lesson learnt, read the small print :-).

One thing to be happy about, the day after she joined she locked the keys in her car, they came out and opened the door, but it wasnt registered as a roadside call out, still have 6 left. :-)

Get the BPMe app... it tells you what your current discount rate is.

It's probably a one off accumulated balance. So once you use it it'll be gone - so be sure to fill up from empty ;-)

Ok here is the deal for any other newbies (im not new but dont bother as I use mobile synergy).

The discount has to be use within 2 months, you can accumlate, ie countdown over $100 is 3c per litre, once a week shopping times 7 weeks is 21c, or $200 is 6c x7 weeks is 52c. It is a one off use, also when using BP you can choose to use the discount of 6c immediately or ask to accumulate.

I can see this working for us, as we rarely use the car being city dwellers, maybe a tank lasts 2 months, but definitely a month (60 litres), and we shop countdown.

Also BP/Caltex like Mobile have 10c promotional days, which is when he said I should use it if I can, ie 40c + 10c.

One thing to note, it is 50 litres maximum, our second car is 60 litres plus the reserve tank so need to be at about 18% to make it the most worth while.

Dont quote me on all the above, that is just my understanding after speaking to them, you may want to ring yourself.

Max 50L! Beyond that, you start paying the full, inflated cost of the petrol.

Ah yes indeed. This is why I just fill up at Waitomo now. The price I see is the price I pay, and I'd say 99% of the time it's cheaper than I would have paid at one of the big chains even after discounts... ;-)

Lol thats what the AA guy on the phone just suggested :-)

Yep, Waitomo seems the goods, I prefer to use Synergy but can run on 95, so as long as its 95 RON, they have my business (see my other thread on Waitomo).
