Introduction of mandatory ERA Glonass System in Russia from 2017 could have side effect on JDM car prices.

FYI Russia has been importing millions of RHD cars from Japan for years despite the fact that officially it has LHD traffic.

Recent law has direct impact on limiting export of RHD cars from Japan. Thousands of cars are in limbo at Customs in Russian Far East right now.

Watch for a short-term or may be long-term effect. I would assume price on some cars at Japanese auctions could drop...

In other countries you are responsible to report accident. In Russia, accident reports you.

But in seriousness, I thought this was only required for Russian built cars?

For all cars. What's more there must be crush test conducted on at least 2 cars to prove system works so manufacturers of luxury cars (international) were not that happy.

I'm going to guess this will not make a big difference for the secondhand market because the demand is huge and cars will continue to cross the border regardless.
