And from the owner/driver's point of view "so what?"

Especially since we don't have any rules about emissions here...

Well, Audi deliberately lied to, fibbed to, mislead both purchasers (owners/drivers) and regulators.

I don't know many people happy to discover after a major purchase that the manufacturer treated them like a chump at the time - however, if owners/drivers love their Audi despite this, then I guess, 'so what', no problem.

No I think it's a terrible thing.

But without emission testing at wof/standards it doesn't matter how bad your diesel car emissions are. So the OP 1st isn't need to worry...

Whilst the cheating was certainly a negative for the environment, it was done for the benefit of price and performance, thereby benefiting the buyer with more bang-for-buck, so most owners are unlikely to be enraged.

So you think that Audi would lie and cheat the emissions standards, but they wouldn't cheat or lie to their customers? Whyever not?

As a breather, I'd want to say something rather stronger than "so what"

Um What???

http://www.transport.govt.nz/ourwork/vehicleemissions/

Our emissions rules may be one generation behind europe / USA etc, (for example, we require Euro 5, where Europe requires Euro 6) which is disappointing, but it's not like we have no rules at all...

We have rules, but no testing.

If you could 'turn on' your cheat device and topped up the urea tank every 2000km, your Audi would be super kind to Mr Environment.
