Hi.

Does anyone here know what this button (one on the left) does in a 2005 Toyota RunX S? It's only in some of the 2005 RunX S, so must be part of one of the factory options (looked on Wayback Machine and only factory options for those that I would think would add buttons would be fog lamps and reversing camera / blind corner monitor, and it's not the fog lamps as that's the one on the righ ). The car beeps when the switch is turned on but it doesn't seem to do anything. Any ideas?

Do you have the Japanese owners manual for the car?

If it shows the switch you can use Google Translate to read in English. This is what I do with our Auris.

Looks like a parking sensor. May be for front or a back.

Doesn't do anything? Try to crash a wall going forwards and then backwards and see if it beeps.

* Note: if you crash it's not my fault

It either time travel or jump to lightspeed depending on whether the headlight fog switch is activated. The beeping you hear is either the flux capacitor or warp core charging. Sit back & enjoy the ride once you hit 142km/h.

More seriously, it's likely is some sort of proximity sensor as previously suggested. Long way would be to pop it out (gently) & trace back the wires to where they're connected.

Have you looked at somewhere like jp-carparts to see if it is a spare that you can then determine what it is?
