April fools this Saturday.

I used to be a regular "fooler." One of my favourites was advertising a 1924 BWM R32 motorcycle for $500 cash, still in the factory shipping container, never assembled. If such a thing existed, I'd guess estimated value would be over $100,000.

I had MANY people accept my offer of sending $500 to a PO Box, based solely on the description, before I told them it was an April Fool's joke.

One Wellington woman said she wanted her motorcycle mechanic, from Harley Davidson, to talk to me first.

The mechanic gave me a call, and tried to buy it from me, again sight unseen, cutting the customer out of the deal. I asked him at length about how his customer would feel. He said "she would understand."

The mechanic was obviously nervous when I told him it was an April Fool's joke. When I told her the mechanic attempted to cut her out of the deal, the woman was furious at me, threatening bodily harm.

So if someone offers you something to good to be true this Saturday, think twice.

That is not really April Fools, more like April Fraud.

I don't see the funny side of it.

As is often the case, fraud traps the greedy. Better a free lesson than paying for it.

I guess I forgot to mention that no one said "you realize that motorcycle is worth a lot more than $500?"

That's funny. If you decide to do another this year, keep us updated how it goes.

It's fraud if someone looses money - but if they only loose dignity.....

Not sure if it's actually fraud but IMO not particularly funny - not 'clever' enough for that or to be a good April Fools joke.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
