April fools this Saturday.
I used to be a regular "fooler." One of my favourites was advertising a 1924 BWM R32 motorcycle for $500 cash, still in the factory shipping container, never assembled. If such a thing existed, I'd guess estimated value would be over $100,000.
I had MANY people accept my offer of sending $500 to a PO Box, based solely on the description, before I told them it was an April Fool's joke.
One Wellington woman said she wanted her motorcycle mechanic, from Harley Davidson, to talk to me first.
The mechanic gave me a call, and tried to buy it from me, again sight unseen, cutting the customer out of the deal. I asked him at length about how his customer would feel. He said "she would understand."
The mechanic was obviously nervous when I told him it was an April Fool's joke. When I told her the mechanic attempted to cut her out of the deal, the woman was furious at me, threatening bodily harm.
So if someone offers you something to good to be true this Saturday, think twice.
