Just a question

If I am at fault with an accident where I called my insurance to lodge a claim and gave the 3rd party with the case number but the 3rd party hasn't made any claim for the last month is it a possibility to claim your excess back from your insurance?

If the guy never calls to lodge a claim with my insurance am I entitled to ask my insurance for a refund of my excess fee?

I’m a little bit confused as to why you’d call the insurance company and pay them money before anyone made a claim against you?

I thought I had to make a claim first and then give the case number for him to call his insurance or for his insurance to call my insurance.?

What Damage did you claim on?- you only pay an excess if the total claim is higher

When you lodge a claim you claim for damage to you,

You can't make a claim for damage to others until they tell you what the damage is

3rd party insurance - I paid an excess of $300 and given him the case number for my insurance.

The damages was by myself.

The back of his car was dented when I hit him from behind.

It’s up to the other person if they want to claim or not. I am confused as to why you would pay an excess when the cost of the damage caused to their car has not been assessed yet. I suspect more to this story. Doesn’t sound quite right to me.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Who did you pay the excess to? I'd be surprised if the insurance company would request payment for the excess before receiving a claim. Ring them, I'm sure that they would refund your money if the other party has not made a claim.
