Hi all

We are looking for a media player(s) for our kids in the back seat of the car for when we go on long trips.

THey have an ipad mini but Im not really a fan of leaving that in the car, and we would prefer something that the kids dont have to lean forward out of their seats to change videos etc.

What we are after is:

- 2 screens, that can stick to the front seat headrests

- Plays media off a usb as well as a disc if needed (and is capable of playing a few formats), and can use headphones so we dont hear the cartoons in the front seat.

- can also play music cds

Does anybody know of or has used something for their own children? Or could point me in the right direction?

Longer car trips are now painful as playing "Disney's repetitive kids songs" once the kids wake up gets tedious.

Our kids are 5 if that has any bearing.

cheers

Looked into this a little while ago. I got to the point that a tablet met most of my needs.  Then started looking at something like these: https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=ipad+holder+for+car

My children are a little bit older and we have bought Chromebooks for them.  And being a bit bigger and heavier than a tablet I didnt think the holders would be any good for them.  Plus, as you mention, there's the security aspect of this.

Our kids watch on media players that hang over the headrests.  Got ours from Dick Smith a few years ago - best coin I ever spent for traveling.  They are master/slave so you cant play different media on each - something to bear in mind.

Dick Smith (reincarnate) still do them - updated version I guess.

Thanks for the suggestions, those Lennox jobs look the go for what we want, especially with the longer ciggy lighter attachment.
Will have to look into those a bit further.
I like the idea of using the iPads but I’m just dubious with leaving them in the car and potentially being nicked by some reputable kiwis,........ and my son is likely to drop his and break it the instant he takes it outside

Cheers
