Have ordered my new scooter today - an M1 Pro in Grey from Scootling in Auckland.

https://www.niu.com/en/m/m-series/

Really looking forward to receiving it. Review to come...

Not sure if it is just marketing but it appears:

M1 is lighter, newer, better? design, better motor and battery, think it is a bit smaller as well. Also has a regenerative back wheel.

Scooter arrived today from Auckland. Have some unboxing photos which I will post along with some product shots in the next few days.

Must say build quality appears good, not Apple spec. but definitely mid/high end Android equivalent.

Good choice.
Ive been riding one to and from work since early march.
Love it.
Charge every other day and had no issues.
Slightly slippery tires to begin with but all ok after about 1k kms.

Anybody attempted to mod it for more speed?

I'd never seen these before...be very interested in your review.

Just out of interest, what's the torque like? I'd ultimately be looking at getting one of these to lug my 95kg frame up a hill and about 2km to the bus station, so would love to know if it would be a capable option for me...

I have to say I’ve been very impressed so far.
It comes with 3 speed settings. From gentle acceleration and limit of 20kph, through mild with 35kph limit all the way to full blast with limit set at around 52. Once you hit 56 going downhill regenerative breaking kicks in automatically. You can also engage it by lightly breaking either of the breaks. This will mostly maintain your speed rather than slow you down when going downhill.
Torque is great. I keep beating all petrol scooters and most cars from cold start.
Thats given my 90kg.
Uphill is great but with limits. It does have a starting incline limit but i have made it up quite steap roeads wih no problem.

If you’re based in Auckland happy to let you have a test ride around somewhere.

I assume these are registered as mopeds? Like 50cc scooters are.

Will they maintain 50Km/h on the flat?

@dauckland Which model do you have?

Have had mine (M1Pro) for a few months and have a few thoughts:

Have added a wemo switch to the charger so it charges overnight (handy with Flick Electric)
Having ongoing issues with the GPS and data connection. Park in the basement at work and it seems to kill the connection after a poor signal for a while - and it can only be reset by unplugging the battery.
The time on the dash is incorrect because - presumably - they have applied the incorrect timezone.
The battery might last the quoted range if you rode it on the flat at 20km and weighed less than me (90kg).
The OTA update is quite cool and easy... just wish it would fix my issue

Hope this helps,

Jon

Yes to both of these with a M1Pro - should add my round trip commute is 20-25km depending on route. Get home with 30-40% battery.

My model is the N1S

Yes it does. It will get up to about 52 even on an uphil if your battery is above 50%
My round trip is about 25 k and i can do 2 of those with 10% spare.
But I prefer to charge it every day to leep battery topped up rather than doing full cycles.
Also charge it using a timer.
