Two muppets in Lancers thought it fun to weave throughout the tunnel Northbound, spilled over into a road-rage type incident (not involving me) on the SH16 Eastbound on-ramp, the muppets then thought it more fun to slow lanes 1 & 2 to sub 35kmh (with their target behind one car in lane 2). More luck than judgement that a pile-up didn't occur - Cops have my front and rear dash cam footage that shows the behaviour for 2-3mins leading up to this.

Seen this so often in the tunnel.. often i'm unsure if it's intentional or purely they are pissed off their tree...

Good on them for catching speeders in the tunnel... now how about those actually being unsafe inside the tunnel?!

Agreed - would be so easy to have a series of cameras monitoring lane-changing, can be done automatically using plate-recognition.

Interestingly I see the Southbound tunnel exit speed camera has disappeared??? Wonder where it went?

I had the same two speedsters racing each other, driving recklessly, unfortunately no Dash cam. This happen between 9-10 am, just as we passed Rainbows End as we headed our way down south.

Love to but its evidential - here is a still though, this is us at 35kmh on SH16... plates come out nice and clear on the footage. I'm on the horn so of course the silver car hits the brakes again as soon as he starts off just to be a dick...all caught on camera. Maybe they haven't heard of dash cams???

Oh and if you are going to be a dick its a good idea <not> to have a really memorable plate :-)

Curious - does dashcam footage have any legal weight to getting muppets like these guys off the road? Given the strict rules that I believe to be in place for speed cameras (only one car in shot, etc.), I would have thought there would be some legal difficulties there.

All good if I'm prepared to state that is what I saw. A full written statement was taken, the footage will be in support of that. Many law enforcement wear body cams these days, cctv etc etc

Unmanned speed cameras are different as the picture is the <only> evidence hence it must be specific to the single vehicle being prosecuted.

Yep, it was approx 10m behind the new variable speed sign that appeared at the same time - I assume that is due to the impending motorway speed restriction being lifted to 100 so maybe the camera had to be resited?

Might post it to the Evo page in Auckland letting them know that they have a Police letter coming their way and they should learn to drive.
Generally they will get called out for giving the scene a bad name and if they are silly enough to show up to a meet after that then someone wos a bit too drunk in the back of a commodore will deal to them.

Possibly way worse than a Police letter if it meets the Reckless threshold...
