What about Uber into AKL airport, can drop off at any terminal?
And as for picking up, only outside of JetStar terminal? What about from the AKL International?

Yes you can Uber to Auckland International, or even use Zoomy.
Pickup is more of an issue as not all drivers are allowed to pickup at Auckland International and I've had a few call me and ask me to walk off site so I can be picked up. There is also some confusion about pickup zones which really needs to be resolved.

I'm still really keen to know the true status of Uber at Auckland Airport, and neither Uber nor Auckland Airport really seem to be able to provide this information.
The official stance from both parties is that Uber has no official agreement with AIAL - this was once again mentioned yesterday by Uber when talking about the launch of Uber in Queenstown. The official statement (which has been the case for some time) is that they're in negotiations with both Auckland and Christchurch airports.
There are many Uber drivers however who seem to have agreements with AIAL and swipe cards for access to the pre booked charter pickup area which is located at the JetStar end of the terminal, and drivers who use this area seem to charge accordingly since they are incurring airport fees. Some drivers still simply pickup from the public pickup/dropoff area in front of the domestic terminal.
It's worth pointing out however that it can be cheaper to use a taxi from Auckland airport to the City than to use Uber. There is a big LCD screen by the taxi area that shows the fixed prices from the airport to the city for the various official companies. You need to ask for these fixed prices for them to apply, otherwise they will use the meter. Checking the Cheap Cabs website they still only charge $38 to the CBD, whereas in my experience an Uber will be in the low to high $40s depending on traffic.
There are no issues catching an Uber to the airport.
