The Hazard

Nissan New Zealand is advising the Dealer network of the requirement to conduct a Recall Campaign affecting certain Grey Import Nissan Japan vehicles where the front passenger airbag inflator requires replacing.

What to do

Owners of vehicles within the affected VIN/Chassis range will be advised by letter in the week commencing on the 14th January 2019 to contact their Nissan Dealer to arrange for rectification of their vehicle. The rectification involves replacing the front passenger airbag inflator with a replacement airbag inflator, at no cost to the customer with regards to parts or labour.

Good luck getting a 1994 Safari or Cefiro re certified haha..

Can anyone explain what needs to take place for the recert to pass?
Is it the equivalent of a LTSA certification when you bring a vehicle into NZ?

But honestly, I have never seen a single vehicle from that year from Nissan with a Passenger airbag, very rare but some have driver airbags. Never ever seen a GQ Safari with an airbag.

X-trail's, liberties, Sylphies never came out until 2001. I am guessing this is a typo and meant to say 2004... Who ever made that list needs to check themselves. Especially since they are sending out recall info..

Quite correct about the years - X-Trail first year built was 2000. Throws a bit of doubt on the whole notice if they have included vehicles in it that cannot exist.

Yeah.... Not sure, but took about 10 seconds of staring at your comment to see the difference :)

Easy assumption to make as a re-certification is a very common practice in automotive rather than a rectification. Generally mechanics say they fixed it or repaired it.

Now it comes across as overcompensation throwing big words out, can't even get the model years right....

*edits, Typos.....
