Hi all,

Recently purchased a 2013 Hiace for work.  I've put in some front speakers (import, didn't come with any), and also want to put in some rear speakers..

I've found the wiring at the back of the van for the rear speakers, but can't seem to suss out the back of the head unit..  I've found one plug that isn't being used, could this be the rear speaker wire?  They are different colours from the back of the van though..

The wiring at the back of the van is Yellow/Black (Left Rear) and Red/White (Right Rear).

I'm using those adapter plugs to go from the Toyota Factory, to the new Pioneer headdeck.

I would have though all 8 speaker wires would terminate at the same place/on the same connector.

Have you found the front ones?

Hook up the rear speakers first. Then a multimeter will quickly tell you which wires are the wires that go to the rear speakers. As you will see the 4 ohm resistance on the speaker wires at the front.

Same here, but only the front speaker wires connect into the factory block.

I do have a multimeter, i'm not too familiar with the settings but I will give it a try.

I think I might have found it!

Now this was behind the glove box..  I saw that the colour of the wires matched up with the front speakers.  I unplugged it, turned on the van and the radio didn't go.. so I now know that this was for the radio.

I pulled out the clip holding it in place, so I could pull it out a little further to look behind it, and sure enough, there were four other wires (red, yellow, black and white), which correspond to the rear speaker wires.  The four in the circle are ones for the other wires!

Now I just have to go into SuperCheap or Repco and see if I can get the connector clips that can just push into the current plug, and then i'll be able to hook up the rear speakers!

Historically Toyota's have used a separate plug for the rear speakers. If you google Toyota headunit pinout for example, you will find it.

I'd go to a wreckers yard and see if you can buy that loom from a van that had the rear speakers from factory. Or cut them out the back of that plug you've found behind the glovebox and crimp on extensions.
