Building new house. Quote to install type 2 charging outlet is $1,646. Is this a good choice and does the cost seem appropriate? Haven't got a EV yet but will probably buy second hand Leaf once subsidies kick in...

Seems to be in the right ballpark, but would depend what EVSE is being installed, what current capacity it has etc.

Would pay to confirm the precise details - i.e. current capacity and number of phases. A Leaf will only use single phase, but other EVs will benefit from 3 phase if available.

Depends on what car you get. When you buy a Tesla you get a free wall charger with it.
