The Hazard

 

Subaru of New Zealand have been informed by SUBARU CORPORATON that due to a failed manufacturing process at a glass supplier, one failed glass may have been incorporated into some affected NZ New only XV and Impreza MY18-19 vehicles. During the quenching process to the tempered glass, the system to blow air streams of cooling air was stopped manually by an operator, and no warning alarm was activated. As a result, the glass was shipped without enough quenching treatment that may lead to insufficient glass performance. The condition may fail to the fragmentation of each country’s safety regulation. If a vehicle equipped with the glass, that does not meet the requirement, has an accident, the glass may be broken in large pieces which can increase the risk of injury to passengers.

 

What to do

 

SNZ will first contact the selling dealer to book the customer in for this recall. Letters will be sent to owners of potentially affected vehicles after ensuring owners have been contacted and advised to make a booking with their local dealer.
