So we have a gutter mounted antenna that was mediocre at the best of times, and has now broken so I am looking for a better type of antenna for our 1995 hiace camper.

We only really use it on the road while travelling, yet outside of the city I have to use my phone to connect to RNZ (the only station worth listening to) then bluetooth it to the car radio.

It would be nice to have a better car antenna to directly pick up the signal. Surely there has been some new tech n the last 20 years.

I have a glass roof panel, I could stick an internal antenna to, and tried one, but it seemed useless. That would be aesthetically the best solution instead of making more holes in the van.

Any ideas?

" yet outside of the city ...."
...FM radio will naturally have worse reception as you move further away from the cities. Try AM radio in marginal areas

The physics of radio waves hasnt changed . :-)
What has changed is streaming radio via your phones internet connection.

Most of the add on car radio arials Ive seen are no better than a piece of wire . As thats really all they are .
