Has anyone here had experience with the new VW Multivan PHEV ? I am considering one to transport myself /wheelchair and mobility scooter. The vehicle will be modified with either a suitable ramp or lift.

Has VW got on top of their quality control especially with regards to the electrical systems, build quality and clutch systems. I am not sure what type of transmission etc these vehicles employ.

Any feed back would be great.

watch the load specs as its fairly small. not sure on what gear you would need for wheelchair, but lifting gear, ramps etc would take up most of the load capacity leaving nothing for passengers.

its a DSG and i suggest you drive or even be passenger in one first. imho they suck to drive around town. they do not do well going slow. crawling traffic is what kills them.

and the prices is $$$$$$$$$.

One would assume being a PHEV that in slow stop start traffic it would mostly run in EV mode.

@tweake thanks for that info. DSG, yuck, nope the VW is out of the shortlist based on that alone. DSG from personal experience are stupidily horrible.

possibly. but how much will depend on battery size.

i don't know the configuration, depends on what side of the clutch the ev motor is on. if its on the driveline it would get around gearbox issues, but would not be able to recharge without using the clutch.
