Anyone noticed a growing number of cars parking on the right side of the road? It is especially dangerous at night as cars don't have reflectors on the front. It is common in the  UK to park on both sides of the roads, but I understand it is illegal in NZ. But it doesn't seem to be getting policed.  https://www.nzta.govt.nz/roadcode/general-road-code/about-driving/stopping-and-parking/where-not-to-park/

Plenty here wrong way parked in Christchurch. Rarely policed / ticketed.

See it most days in my Street alone.

Agreed. I've had minor panic attacks on rural roads at night when I see the reflectors on the back of a car (on the wrong side) and think I'm veering off to the left.

I haven't really noticed this, but parking behaviour here in Wellington is generally appalling. There are parked cars all over the footpath, fire hydrants and broken yellow lines.

The council are pretty good with enforcement in the central business district, but they are too reactive in the suburbs. Often when I report an illegally parked vehicle the council don't get to it until it's long gone.

My car has a fit every time I approach a car parked on my side of the road facing me.

It beeps really loud, and BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE flashes up on the HUD.

And it happens a lot on the road that leads to my road.

Very annoying.

Yes, see this far too often. Some people don't understand the issue.

Mazda? Mine is, and does the same.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I have seen it so often that I thought it must have been legalised recently.

Even if it wasn't illegal, I just don't understand why you would want to? Pulling out of a parrallel park into oncoming traffic while sitting in the drivers seat close to the curb with no/limited visibility is a recipe for disaster. If there's a park on the opposite side of the road just go up further a do a u-turn in someone's driveway and come back to park correctly on that side of the road.

Prime offenders in my area are tradies.

Utes and vans seem to think they can park anywhere they like.

Sometimes its even bigger things, like concrete trucks, removal trucks, machinery/vehicle transporter trucks.

They dont even bother putting hazard lights on anymore.
