I often see cars parked on the side of the southern motorway with a yellow sticker on the back windscreen - I assume this is a ticket.

How long can a car be left on the motorway before it gets ticketed? before it gets towed? What's the fine?

I'm curious to pull over and read it, however, my life is already interesting enough without getting ticketed for pulling over for no reason...

It's not a ticket. It's a sticker placed on the rear by the police officer that has dealt with the car, letting other units know it's been dealt with, as well as providing some info to the driver of the vehicle.

Pink stickers mean the car is mechanically unsafe to drive.

My question is how long can the Yellow or Pink stickered car remain on the side of the m'way.

Anyone have a photo of that sticker?  I'd love to pull over and take a photo of one.

Pay to get eyes checked.. thats green lad :)

Yellow could be council saying "we want this moved, or its going to be dumped"? or as said, police "we have attended this" Similar to their DO NOT CROSS tape they wrap around cars if no stickers on board.

Timeframe? Depends on if the person who left it there was legit or it was pinched :) the latter tend to stay until the council tow them (its their dirt usually)

Council ones are white, with blue writing.

Pays to buy a better quality laptop, it's a dull yellow on my display without a hint of green.

Whatever the quality of that photo, it will be a green sticker. There are two types: green and pink. Green is for low level stuff, recently expired WOF and something needing attention, tail lights out, etc. Pink is more serious, such as WOF expired 5 years ago, all tyres are bald, using a beer crate as a driver's seat, and so on.

I'm not sure how long a car is allowed to stay on the side of the motorway before it gets towed. They don't seem to last long before they're gone tho.

For the record I am a police officer but I don't work on the traffic side so my knowledge in that area is a bit weak. I used to participate in richgamer's forums, trying to correct him and his wild theories on the law, before he was banned.

I think the owner has so many days to get it removed at their own cost and get the car sorted before it can be allowed on the road again.
If theyre not removed, then the police/council remove them for you at an even greater cost and stored at a greater cost again - all under the owners name.

yellow stickers are placed on the vehicle when its found unattended on the motorway recording date and time the vehicle is first observed. Once stickered other officers know they dont need to further examine the vehicle. The first officer deals with the parked vehicle in terms of getting it moved etc

that would be an ecumenical matter
