Hey there,

I just thought I would startup a thread on the ugly cars of the world. I just saw the PT cruiser and it made me wonder why people still drive these horrible things!

Does any body else have any other examples of really ugly cars?

Mercedes Smart cars! And the hideous 'Nissan 'cube' seriously, was someone drunk when they designed them?
Great idea for a thread though

lol. Some cars are just lemons, i see more what the car is made up of and the purpose the car is being used for. The cube is amazingly spacious and quite useful as a head turner like the snail car (s-cargo, also made by nissan) so of course most have been used by companies as a poster has suggested.

I actually quite like the pt cruiser. also like the other monster chrysler that looks like a bentley but still meaty unlike the real bentley's.

There are many vehicles that look terrible but are perfectly functional and decent vehicles. Then there are many that look quite nice and are total pigs to drive.

I've always been of the opinion, buy a car to suit your needs, if you want a shopping basket and use it simply for getting down town and fitting into parks, there is nothing wrong with buying a daihatsu sirion or toyota echo. I have long legs, do long trips so need a larger car and like a bit of power, a holden commodore station wagon would be a good choice.

Some of the car names are the real laughing stock.

Crv - comfortable runabout vehicle

Rav - recreational active vehicle

Rvr - recreational vehicle runner

And little beats the honda "fit", while it means small and easy to park it conjures up many images to the other meaning of the word.

Surely there can be only 1 possible winner for this - the SsangYong Stavic (Rodius in some markets):

http://www.ssangyong.co.nz/stavic.html

Don't look at it too long, it will burn your eyes and scare any small children in the room.

2nd prize goes to the rest of their range.

Cube/Materia - the funky box style is all the rage with the bright young things these days. Or so I'm told as I'm not nearly bright or funky enough to want to own one...

I had a Sirion as a work car once. They're very odd. They look small on the outside, but are very spacious on the inside.
They go pretty well for a 1.3l as well.
