Hi

Does anyone know if it's possible to hire an exotic car (with full insurance) in either Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch for half a day? Specifically I'm interested in Lamborghini, Ferrari or Late model Corvette, a car worth at least $350,000. Google hasn't been overly helpful.

It's something on my list that I haven't ticked off yet, I'm doing it for myself. I don't think it's possible to hire one though unless I went to the States or if I sweet talked an owner but that's difficult when you don't know any rich people with flash cars!

Have you tried calling sports car rentals? They might be able to refer you to someone?

You could also try posting in the performance car forums.

Its really not helpful but I think such a company exists, it rings a bell, just cant remember anything though lol.
You could try limo companies they might have some exotic cars on the books or know someone who does.

Yeah I'm having trouble finding anyone that has cars available up to that value. So many of the car rental companies in New Zealand think that an exotic sports car is an MX5 ;) 

These guys have the cars you want (they're in Auckland):

... but they're just for hire for use on their own track. It's possible that they've got some options for personal hire that they haven't mentioned on their site though. Could be worth getting in touch with them.
